I have very little knowledge on pips - but is there a good short pip (to be used on BH) that can be used for everything. Pushing, chopping away and hitting/topspin close to the table?
More something that is easy to use as a transition rather than really specialised in any one area atm. Any recommendations on sponge thickness also?

The reason why im thinking of trying is that I struggle with BH open-ups being aggressive enough and usually get just countered easily (like almost just setting people up) and generally being too weak on my BH side. Its an area ive really worked on - but just dont seem to be making much progress. Am thinking a SP might help hitting through easier and being more powerful?

Pips won't really solve the problem unless you don't like to topspin in general. Backswing is critical on openups, people who don't introduce wrist flexion into their backhand tend to struggle with it, even with pips. But maybe the ball might be more disturbing.

Degu is a spinnier pip, the pip I tend to like is Waran. Haven't used either with the ABS ball though.

Spinfire by Der Materialspezialist. Has a hard sponge and no tensor - so it's good to hit through the ball. I'd go with 1.5 mm to 1.8 mm in your case.

I know its not a solve all solution - im just a little fed up that after spending time really trying to be more dangerous with my BH - im not really getting anywhere. People either pin me to play on my BH to much or get me to openup and counter. Im never going to be fast enough to mainly pivot and play my FH all the time at 40. So struggling for ideas on how to be more dangerous as i just cant get that snap on BH - coach always says its like 60-70%- when i feel like Im hitting at full power.
