Indeed great stuff for Dima
But it is more the non participation of the other top players rather than him beating them to get into top 4

This is why world ranking doesn't mean much at the end of the day.
World ranking is simply just mathematical calculation of points.

Also, since March 2014, lots of players were removed from world ranking list.
Many players who didn't take part at all improved from 200 odd to 100 odd.
So I imagine in the Top 200, over 50 to 100 names was removed - which I think is fair to justify the current top players who are ranked due to comittement on the world tours, than oppose to occupying the space with last participation being years ago
