A semi-relevant tidbit: I kept an eye on Puerto Rico's Adriana Diaz in this tournament and she was unlucky to be beaten by China's Wang Yidi twice, both in girls' and women's tournaments. The reason I was interested to see her play is that I recently looked up the stats for another young Chinese player Shi Xunyao, whom you might remember for playing in the last year's T2 APAC, where she reached semi-finals at 16 years of age. This season she's doing even better, you wouldn't believe how much better. She's just turned 17 and has won Polish Open, Czech Open, China Open and most recently Hong Kong Open, all in U21 category. In total, this year she's played 53 matches (singles and doubles) and won 52 of them, that's 98% win ratio, most of them 3-0s, 4-0s and 4-1s. I think we'll see Shi Xunyao in seniors very soon. Anyway, her only loss was to Adriana Diaz, 3-4.

Ovtcharov lose 2-4 to Zheng PeiFeng. Is it just me, or does it seem like Zheng PeiFeng was stalling excessively between points? It feels like the waiting time for each point is quite long.
Ovtcharov did not shake hands with one of the referee, does anyone know the reason?

Even more, Shi Xunyao is the WJTTC 2016 Singles Champion. She's under everyone's radar for the moment, while Sun Yingsha, WJTTC 2017 Singles Champion, takes the back seat in 2018.

But did you see Ovtcharov's handshake with ZPF? It was a genuinely good handshake and they patted each other on the shoulder. So I think both of them felt like it was a good game and respected each other for it. Either that or they knew each other personally. Anyway, I was surprised by their affectionate handshake.

Dima has played in Super League a few times, I wouldn't be surprised if he was once on a team with ZPF.

Highly unlikely, given he's already been around for quite a while. He was first mentioned on ooakforum back in 2012 when he was already CNT. If he was from any other country, we would have been seeing him for years.

ML is a human . He had a great run between 2012-2017 and won almost everything. Clearly he does not move as before. Nor does he punch that much power. Just playing BH-BH was never ML's forte. Age and family commitments seems to have caught up with him.

Nah, looks like Ma Long was in his period, he will be good to go by next week or so.
