Ruining a big event for tt fans that have nothing to do with this doesn't matter then? How is their action "brave" if there wasn't any punishment for it? Don't get me wrong, I think it is good that the chinese players show their government that they aren't puppets, but ittf has to issue some kind of penalty.
Who ruined what? It takes a lot of pieces, all fitting, to dominate the top level. I think it's pretty much common knowledge (and obvious, looking at recent past match history) that a part of the CNT dominance is in preparation/practice (something deeply involving coaches), and in being able to execute tactical adaptations during gameplay — something also deeply involving coaches.
This just to say: part of the magical formula is the deep symbiosis between fully dedicated player-coach pairs.
In the CNT, this was broken just days before the tournament. The rules based upon the players getting punishment are about "good representation" and "doing their utmost to win the match". Well, I think good representation and doing the utmost to win matches got flushed violently down the drain after, and because of, shitcanning the coaches just a whisker of time prior to performance time.
Do ze rools need to be enforced, and must punishment be handed out? If so, than the punishment should be towards those responsible for ruining good representation and acting highly detrimentally to the player's ability to do their utmost to win matches. For no man is an island, entire of itself.
