Ito, Kato, Hamamoto underperformed, not very good for the JNT

Ishikawa and Hirano Miyu are very strong , the 2 young defenders Sato and Hashimoto look very steady as well.

the Matsudaira bros both had some mental problems. Kenta was leading 3-1 to Tsuboi, Kenji had one match point in the 6th.

special "award" to Niwa who literally threw the match away after being behind 3-7 in the decider. Very disappointing.

Harimoto is not the one shouting most. Hirano shouts louder, but the loudest is Jin Takuya, he celebrates like King Kong...

Niwa, Kenta, Yoshimura, Oshima, Harimoto upset
Ito, Kato Miyu, Hamamoto upset

this is not really looking good for the JNT

Or is this a good thing? Perhaps the strength and depth of Japanese players has improved?

What do you think? :)

I haven't watched the matches so I can't comment on the quality of play...

My POV exactly. This is the second strongest national championship in the world. The only guy who is really head and shoulders above everyone else is Mizutani.

+1

I think it just shows that Japan has so many good players. Just like Chinese National Championship, there are always many upsets.

I never thought that this could be possible, but after having watched the match between Yoshida and Miuchi i don't think so anymore.

I don't think so. Actually it's exactly the opposite that they get challenged real hard. Makes 'em stay on their toes. :)

yes and no.

the JNT slots are already fixed. Actually there is only 1 left, for the winners of the Ladies and Gentlemen's provided its not already a member, in which case, it will be a wild card...

For confirmed members Niwa and Kenta to lose early, and same Ito and Kato, its an underperformance and it doesn't bode well for the World Championships in May.
