Two world class players have confirmed their participation in this years LA Open! Recent Bronze Olympic medallist Dimitrij Ovtcharov and 2004 Olympic Champion Ryu Seung Min!

Germany's Dimitrij Ovtcharov, the World #6 has entered the LA Open as the #1 seed followed by Korea's Ryu Seung Min (right), the world #25 has entered as the #2 seed.

There are 12 events in the tournament. The Men's Singles Champion will receive 10,000 dollars, the runner-up 5,000, semifinalists 2,000 dollars. In the women's singles event the winner will receive 1,500 dollars, runner up 750 and semifinalists 250 dollars.

Will Germany's Dimitrij Ovtcharov retain the title? Will Ryu Seung Min stop him? Perhaps Wang Zhen or Xin Zhou could cause a surprise upset?

Dima might indeed take it all! Yet it is too soon to say that as matches have not yet been played!

It is inspiring and still yet sad that private clubs must come up with marketing and funding in order to have thoughts of attracting top players ot come.

heck, US Open and Wimbleton have enough prizes to attract and motivate even the top 100 to show up and lose...

I love these events, because then you get to see how Ryu and Dima compete against players who are not quite to their level. You can really see the difference in spin and speed. I hope we get to see youtube videos where Ryu and Dima are in the quarter finals etc.

Dima took it last year from Oh Sang Eun, so I'm expecting a repeat! I'm a huge fan of Ryu, but I feel He's not as fast and accurate as he used to be. Dima's backhand can be devastating for a single sided pen hold backhand. Still I wouldn't mind if either of them win.

Tim has potential but I feel he doesn't have the intensity that most professional international players do. He plays too soft and slow to complete against anyone outside the US.
