Day 1 of the Volkswagen China vs World Team Challenge took place today in the Minhang District in Shanghai on the 24th November 2012.
The hosts China looked very strong on day 1 and are most certainly likely to retain their titles tomorrow on the concluding day. The Chinese team included veterans Wang Liqin, Ma lin and led by young superstar Xu Xin! Crowned European champion this year, Germany’s Timo Boll led the bid to defeat the reigning Olympic and World champions, China. Compatriot Dimitirj Ovtchaorv aided the world team alongside Michael Maze of Denmark!

A total prize fund of US$ 198,000 is at stake; US$ 66,000 being allocated to the winning team in each event and US$ 33,000 to the losers.
