--- Ma Long and Liu Shiwen remain World No.1 ---
Both Ma Long and Liu Shiwen haven't lost any match this month and therefore they stay at the top of the ranking.

September has been a rather peaceful month for the rankings! The month started with the Chinese National Games, which unfortunately don't count for the ITTF ranking. Also the Flanders Open was cancelled... But: The Women's World Cup has been held and for the first time since 2009, the Belarus Open has been played.

After the withdrawals of home countries players Vladimir Samsonov and Viktoria Pavlovich, the Belarus Open's titles could be won by anyone.
In the men's event this resulted into very tight quarter and semi finals. Top seed Kaii Yoshida saw his countrymate Sambe Kohei defeat 2nd seed Mihai Bobocica in 7 games already in the Round of 16. Kohei repeated these full length matches until the final where Yoshida was the more experienced player (4-0).
The women's event saw less upsets. Only Dutch Linda Creemers managed to reach the semi finals as an outsider, by beating Ana-Maria Erdelji from Serbia in the quarters. In the final, Germany's Sabine Winter took the crown as she beat Belarus' Alexandra Privolova 4-1.

The STARTS' Women's World Cup has this year been held in Kobe, Japan. Of course the crowd's favourites were Japan's Kasumi Ishikawa, Ai Fukuhara and Sayaka Hirano.
Unfortunately no big successes were achieved. Fukuhara and Ishikawa both got through their groups but were eliminated in the quarter finals by Wu Yang and Feng Tianwei respectively.
Feng Tianwei, looking for her first Singles World Cup medal lost to Wu Yang but easily took bronze by winning the match for 3rd place 4-0 against Jiang Huajun. Liu Shiwen, more experienced with the defender Wu Yang's playing style, took the title by also winning 4-0 in the final.
