Olympic Table Tennis Events - no doubles?

My apologies if this has been asked - why no Mxd Dbls or Doubles in the Olympics now.

There were never mixed doubles, only men's and women's doubles, but in 2008 they replaced those events with the team event

Yeah, the mixed doubles would be cool though. I would love to see that as an addition to the other events.

In my opinion it's actually better that there's a team event More chances for the germans to win a medal

I prefer the Team event as well. Although it's fun to see surprising combinations (like Maze/Tugwell), I don't think everyone would take a doubles event too seriously. Players like Boll, Ovtcharov, Mizutani,.. They'll probably just focus on the singles.*
