again, the male player throwing it away against China

In the past, the women's would be weaker with the incoming ball from the men's player
but for 3 matches in a row against CNT, the opponent's womens handled it very well, while the men's player messed up more. Who would have thought.

Entertaining finals. Though I wonder if WCQ wasn't serving his famous hook when they trailed 5-7 in G6, what would have happened. Ri looked like he misread half of WCQ's serves, whereas Kim's pips allowed her to borrow the incoming spin.

Nonetheless, congratulations to the winners WCQ/SYS - they are worthy of the title for the dominance they displayed this whole cycle.

He got the higher ranking after the team was selected. Dang and Dima were #1 and #2 at the time of selection. Timo was the player that most people had issue with but for me, Franziska has been a bit unreliable in his career. But that said, I like objective criteria and I do feel Franziska should have gone over Timo and the team was being largely built that way before Timo maybe showed some things that made them change. But whether we agree or disagree, let us not turn this into Ma Long in 2012 where people start forgetting the facts when discussing the issue.
Very true, but I think Patrick improved a lot last years while Dima went down with his form and injuries, in fact I do not remember when last time he has beaten someone higher ranked then him.

I really like this NK pair. A real credit to their nation which I hope opens up in more ways than one.
it would be great if we can see more NK players in WTT
Many nations don't play, because they don't have the budget + they are not good enough.
These players have zero international experience, other than just going from the XD qualifications (and winning 1st place to get spot in OG) and going straight to finals and almost took China to the decider.
Unbelievable!!

Check the CNT 100 in the crowd, + hundreds of Chinese fans
NK had 5 officials acting as fans.....

Sure but the perspective of Rosskopf, and the German establishment, is that Dima tends to rise to big occasions and that is why he has two bronze medals - anyone remember that lots of top players have struggled with Kiril this year but Dima still managed to win. But I have made my opinions elsewhere and I don't want to make it sound like I am not a Franziska fan, but the gap between the expectations they had for him from his junior days to his current performance is probably still working against him. He just shrunk away from the big moment so much that people lost confidence in pushing him for the big moments. I sometimes point to how Franziska played during the Teams tournament in Busan.

Dima has Felix next so he has already performed to seeding. Hopefully they will clean up the criteria but Germany has a very tough bar to hurdle in men's teams.

Imagine wanting to treasure the blade you won a gold medal with or thinking it's a lucky charm and you want to keep playing with it for the rest of the events only for some fucking idiot to break it not even five minutes after winning the gold medal match. I wonder if the guy even apologized.

I wouldn't argue Zhang Jike's techniques were near perfect at all, at least for the modern ball. But everyone can debate technical issues and some say that he had congenital issues.

But in addition to things like bracing the spine or relying more on power from the legs etc., there is a lot of stuff that one has to do to make sure that the spine resists bending when trying to hit powerful strokes or carry large loads. These are just as technical as they are self care. IMHO. People who lose their backs to these things are sometimes over using spine bending technique. Of course, without knowing the specifics of Nina's case, I could be completely wrong. But one should be generally careful when practicing using technique that requires the spine to bend (which some people do when looping chop for example).
I saw a video recently of ZJK talking about his technique vs Ma Long's. The way he talked about it it sounds like he loops the way he does because of his back issues, so it might have been present for way longer than we realize. He was saying something like Ma Long uses his waist a lot to generate power, but he can't because of his back issues.
