yep
especially if Olympic Paris is all about ZERO everything
then why it the world waste resources unnecessary.

OG is the lightest schedule era in any players history (provided they do take part).
any player can say it is light....

you could squeeze in the schedule just a little, and save how much resources wastage?
I don't even major or specialize in this field... its just common sense
It's also common sense that 2 different finals equals double ticket sale revenue 😆

Honestly I'm fine with it. No more WCQ/SYS cult fan members in the venue probably means a better environment. More tickets for French, Brazilian, and Swedish fans. I don't mind a lot of Chinese fans. They are loyal and they help prop up TT as a sport as a whole. But I've been loving the lively atmosphere in this Olympics where they are drowned out by louder and more rowdy fans.

Congrats Chen Meng, she basically fought not only against SYS but her whole fandom and the CNT delegation. Sun's weakness was always her bh and CM exploited it throughout the game to suppress her domineering fh
I found the fandom to be rather disrespectful by loudly and repeatedly shouting Sun Yingsha's name when Chen Meng was taking her solo photos as the gold medalist. I get that they all love SYS, but sheesh... show some manners.

Yah I thought that was really bad. Maybe cheer loudly for when SYS gets her medal. But doing it while CM was alone on the podium and it was supposed to be her moment.

With fans like that, who needs hecklers?

They could easily do 2 session and still make the same amount of money on ticket sale.

more TT events must be held in Europe for sure.
but, I wonder how it feels to sit and watch, but then you have chinese fans in front that is wearing things on the head, blocking your view a bit, and then all the props.... blocking more of your view....

lol
you make it sound like players don't take pain injection before matches.
where have you been all year
Administering an injection is usually a risky move that could potentially shorten the career of an athlete. Hayata is not like lucky CIC who has all the time in the world to recover.

https://www.hmpgloballearningnetwork.com/site/podiatry/article/7625
Dr. Lowe concurs, emphasizing the importance of a high level athlete being able to take a minimum of a week off from high intensity workouts before returning to high level activities so as to not compromise tissue and proprioceptive protective skills.

...As he cautions, athletes should not immediately return to activity due to proprioceptive/nociceptive changes, which will only permit more trauma on an already inflamed or injured tissue.

“The injury is always more than just inflammation,” says Dr. Lowe. “It also involves restoration of the injured tissue and the kinetic environment.”

name your sources
I love it when I know you are entering bs territory. Wanna see how you going to spin yourself out of this

and who told you 7 days rest? google?
some are advise 1 to 2 days rest after taking corticosteroid injections.

you should start a poll to see how many athletes in the world has taken atleast 1 corticosteroid injection this year, with the cramp schedule between Jan to May

Its a sad reality, that goes on behind the scenes and many don't know about it.
as I said, you made it sound like Hayata is the only one.
Its sad that there are many, since there is no time to recover, include that of CIC and even Tai (well she was forced out of play for 2 months prior to OG, so she did have some time to recover)

Just curious what is your Ukrainian TT rating? I am originally from Ukraine as well.
I never played a rated tourney but I have played with rated players every week on a our club tournament there is always rated players are in. Before the war even some young pro players that were training in our club participated regularly.

I have wins over 20-35 rated guys, today a was lost 1:2 to a 34 rated guy - so I don’t know what my exact rating is to be honest.

Nice to meet someone from Ukrainian origin here 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼 There are not a lot of us here as I see😌.

So am I. But could someone, please, explain to me the behaviour of the Chinese officials? And the ITTF too, I think. Nobody looked happy up there!
Chen Meng upset the grand slam agenda no?

According to reports, Hayata took two shots (SF and bronze medal match). She also says that "getting bronze under this condition is more valuable than getting gold".

That hug and smile with SYB is the most wholesome thing I've seen at this Olympics so far.

Also I think we need to give a shout out to Coach Ishida. Guy was the craziest one man cheerleading team I've ever seen. Every point Hayata won he cheered like it was the most impressive thing he'd ever seen in his life.

Seriously someone needs to put out a compilation of his reactions. It would be pretty hilarious to see them all one after another.

A career means very little if you can't take an injection for a match that is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Look who wants Hayata to retire more here. That's needless to say. The more reason why I keep saying she has to play smarter. At this rate, she will have 2 to 3 more years to challenge China.

Table tennis careers are never really long, it is the achievements that matter. I get her wanting to stay healthy and I want that too. But is anyone going to remember her for playing 4 more years without any medals or for having a WTTC bronze and an Olympic bronze? She can spend 10 more years and never get back here. I mean, how many people thought Ito would be here again? How many people thought Hirano from 2017 had seen her best days in 2017? You must seize the moment, let the zeio's of the world who call you dumb with the armchair quarterbacking be damned, choices like this to me are a no-brainer, longer career is no guarantee of anything when the medal already generated endorsement prospects and historical value well beyond that.

Let's think about it, would Tamara Boros be coaching Germany today without her medal? And her career was cut short through absolutely no fault of her own.
