I see a lot of similarities between Truls and Mima Ito; he stays close to the table, plays very offensive, will pivot to his forehand, as soon he gets the chance, uses his backhand more for punching instead of spinier returns and for the same reasons, he will not be a major threat to CNT, because, China has already found how to counter this type of playstyle; not backing off, long archy, spinnier loops to backhand to stop the punching and going parallel to punish the forehand pivot.

well, WCQ sure didn't follow the play book for this kind of playing style.
it could be a Truls problem or WCQ problem, or could be both.

PS. Truls probably has better results than a male version of Ito, especially his style works for him in Europe.
IMO, he plays pretty clever and have great control

Truls also has a powerful forehand and rallies much better than Ito. I know it's the men's game but he was able to handle himself against WCQ blow for blow.

I don't really watch badminton, but I did watch replays of some of her matches including the gold medal match. I knew she had a heavily taped knee, but I didn't realize it was broken. Can you actually play badminton with all those starts and stops on a broken knee? She's got the best celebration of the Olympic games I've seen so far and very respectful of her opponents. And wow, the Koreans fans are incredible too! Even as a non-badminton person, I highly recommend at least watching the end of her gold medal match and the ensuing celebration.

Pavade for doubles and Yuan for singles.
Thailand surprisingly playing Suthasini in doubles only, younger sister Jinnipa for the ace position and Orawan for match 3.

Thailand wins six points in a row from 6-10 down in the 4th to win the doubles tie. Mission accomplished with their lineup so far.

Yuan beats Jinnipa. 1-1 now. Things still going according to Thailand's plan. Going up 2-0 would have been a bonus. The real match starts from here.

According to her interview after winning gold, her injury was misdiagnosed (way worse) and the Badminton Korea Association didn't give a damn and she hints at quitting the national team.

Now you see why I'm so strict with Hayata.

SYS seems rattled from her loss in the gold medal match. She loses a game to Dina Meshref and had to call timeout up 10-7 in the 4th game as Dina was coming back. She obviously won, but did not look her usual self.
