harimoto is confiming himself as the biggest choker at this olympic.
7th game loss against fzd, 5th game loss against LJY, 5th game loss against Anton Kallberg and now felix.
I'm sorry but he just doesn't play very well in the last set.
Guys, table tennis is a sport where the opponent is allowed to play good shots too. You can crticize specific decisions or plays or reversion to passivity but not all losses are choking. You have to credit the opponent when the opponent is taking risk as well. And all of Harimoto's opponents took risks.

ITTF-statuten 2024:

Yeah but Harimoto had matchballs. Felix had momentum in crucial moment. It was really close match. Anton KALLBERG from Congo match to his the best form ever was like magic. Why we must end Shinozuka chances before the match?
If It had someone other than Felix or Fan Zhendong on the other side, I would give Shinozuka a chance. But the reason why I thought Japan had no chance was that Felix would win 2. So let's go!

What has Shinozuka done that gives you the confidence he is capable of the required level? Kallberf and Felix are two of the best players in the world, no matter what you think of Harimoto.

Actually the service law requires the toss to be "near vertically upward" All the players do that but it does drift over at the peak of the toss ending up falling a couple of feet away, but to me what they do seems to comply with "near vertically" and is at least 16 cm. In the bad old days some players would have the ball travelling almost horizontally onto the bat. At Birmingham 77 I was behind the table when a famous Hungarian did a tomahawk serve and missed it and the ball came all the way back to the barrier where I was sitting.
However if the ball in the palm is above the table at the start of the toss that is illegal.
IMHO the law is badly written

Ah
I see backspacer is before me and phrases it better :)
I was also at the exebition centre that year. It was my first world championship I attended then.:)

Leftie, last match pressure. Felix is better player but table tennis is weird sport.
Kallberg had 3:3 and 9:9 with Congo player and then won with Harimoto from 0:2 and 2:3....
Of course, Sora could be more dangerous

Internets most underrated comment. WE ALL WANT TO KNOW!!!
Back in the day,(198?), I was watching a final, and my friend lost the first game unexpectedly and badly..At change of ends somebody approached and had a word or two. My friend went back to the table and demolished her opponent with ease.
Years later, I asked what the great advice had been.
It was "don't worry about the train I'll give you a lift home"!

Crazy nerves of steel from Shinokuza to save bronze medal point and win the third game in front of the home crowd. I still feel both he and Harimoto could play less to Felix's backhand and more to the middle.

2 1 games down
come on shinozuka !
he is showing some fight..
if he recovers he'll never have to buy a drink in Tokyo again...
france wins 13-11
overall match 3-2

a great crazy match.
regarding bh to bh tactics against felix
maybe
it gains more fh opportunities and Togami likes to run onto his fh
or
playing to middle may expose one to fast switches to both fh and bh
good on france to claim a bronze at home

Umpire is calling the scores really slowly. Was in the middle of calling out the score when Felix served at 6-4, didn't even bother calling a let and seemed like Shinozuka was distracted.

I think they choose Shinozuka because he is more defensive player in doubles to match Togami wildness WHO is fckn berserker
