its amazing indeed, when i saw the first match against Flore, i had little hope for ML in this tournament, but i was all wrong. he's beaten Flore, Boll, Mizutani, Xu Xin and LGY. Thats really an amazing performance for a return to the competition.

He's going to be very tough to beat in WTTC next month

ML won the China Open by beating FZD in the final in June 2018.

People's reaction: He's unbeatable.

Several days later, he got beaten by Harimto at the Japan Open.

Wang Manyu 4:0 against Ding Ning, 11:3 first set against Liu ...

Am I getting this right in terms of the CNT's Women hierarchy?

1. Cheng Meng
2. Wang Manyu
3. Ding/Liu
...

DN and LSW still in top 2, merely by the fact that CM and WMY never played in the final of the 3 majors. WR and the Opens weigh next to nothing in the eyes of CNT. Been that way since forever.

Wang Manyu is so hard to put the ball past it's ridiculous. A deserved victory.

A bit of luck on her side too I would say. During the crucial third game, LSW led 9-8 and the rally went in her favour, only for the ball to clip the net at the end in a irrecoverable manner which WMY acknowledged empathetically. Then at 9-9, it was LSW's serve but that didn't go over the net. She then realised the ball was dented and requested for a new one. I'm pretty sure LSW would have taken that game without all these unexpected episodes because her tactics were more effective then and we would likely be seeing a 7th game right now.
