"Spam" on the forum

Hey all, not sure if this is the right place to post on this issue, but lately, i've noticed a lot of... 'spam' on these 'deals' and 'products' that they are selling that are completely not related to table tennis. A post with the title like:

"sell cc -cvv ccv cheap and good"

comes up a lot, and I just wanted to bring this is problem up. I really want to know if you can get rid of these spammers or not

We are fixing the issue, it is very hard to stop spam on big boards. We have various security measures to defend from these spammers but some break through every now and then. We will keep you updated

Correct me if I am wrong Dan. I think the best thing to do when you see those spam messages is to get the url to the thread or threads, and send a private message to Dan so that they can be removed. I usually send the username of the poster as well. This way, even when the spam gets through the filters, it gets removed as quickly as possible.

Yeah your right buddy.. that is the best way, however during the hours of UK's sleep time we cannot remove the spam as admins are asleep. So the spam could be sitting on the site for some time. I will make you a mod Carl as we discussed a few weeks ago so you can help us with this as I know your willing to join the team

No worries about that. I just thought, at least ttunreal can feel like he is helping. However, I see an Australian flag, so if that is accurate, you might have more than one person send you private messages about spam while you are sleeping.

I personally never mind when you get to it. I just send to help you find it more easily. I know you always find it and remove it in the end. You are on top of things, sometimes, even while you are sleeping.

The truth is, there's hardly any moderators on this forum.

Hey guys, you are right more moderators are needed on here. I have been getting around to setting mods up however just been fixing loads of small issues on the site recently and we are launching some very cool updates in the up coming weeks.

I will try sort mods in the next few days to prevent this spam issue to arise.

There are loads of moderators. There is Dan, and Dan, and Dan, and Dan. He's a hard act to follow. But there are other moderators besides Dan too.

I believe there is a button below every post with a triangle (next to the 'Like' button) that you can click to report a post. I guess a message about that post is then sent to all moderators? Or at least it should be possible.
