Hi All,
I happened to have business on the East Bay Area today... and when said business was done, I was able to visit the training garage of @dingyibvs .
Anyone watching the TTD Daily Chit Chat thread has seen post after post of @dingyibvs assessing his backhand to be sub-par and does/did this or this or that to "fix" it...
I saw in person at the table and the man can make that BH topspin close to the table over and over and dare you to miss... because he ISN'T gunna miss.
His base BH topspin is levels above his play level. Maybe some other situational shots using the BH, like opening, or counter topspin, or a deep fast underspin ball that we can make an argument he could/should spend more time grooving... OK, got that memo, but TTD, you need to know that does not necessarily need to be spent on the basics of his BH.
The only times he really misses a rally BH topspin is for the same reason we ALL miss our shots... because we do not always properly read the impact and know what happened and where/when/how the ball is gunna come. Period.
Put that puppy to rest if anyone thinks his BH is garbage on fire. His BH is an ASSET.
No one really saw too much in point rally situations where ball reading and quick movement and good hand/eye is needed.
Put that damn puppy dog to rest too, he is even better at open rallies at the table and a step away.
You THINK you got him strained to that wide FH to make it to the ball, but he gets there and will lay the SMACK on you for thinking that nonsense. he is not afraid to go forward and attack. If you hit with him, you might think his transmission is stuck ion forward and throttle open.
I did the chop drill with my .5mm long pips and when I gave it to his FH and he wanted to fast loop it, it was blasting towards my BH.
We must have went over 12 different things i will not remember or write about here, but that couple hours was PACKED with good stuff for both of us.
I needed to run around and sweat like an animal anyway... you know that a desk job will get you fatter than fluff in no time flat, so going out to the field and getting into action always helps a heavy dude almost on the wrong side of 60 yrs old.
Glad to have visited that garage of training fame on TTD. Glad to have met up with @dingyibvs after a few years again... dude is accelerating his improvement. WAY improved over last time in all kinds of ways.
