Yay, all-China final again in WS.

WYD's clean game is actually quite enjoyable when little is at stake. She showed signs of hitting maximum heart rate in G4, where she did everything within her power but still couldn't keep up. I guess that's her peak level there.

Harimoto is still some time away from maintaining her output at that level.

Thinking about the quality in that match, I reckon anyone else would have been hammered.
The 3rd set was a walloping but to get 9,11 and 8 points in the other three sets was some achievement!
LSD was just unplayable today 🤷
Plus, LSD's playing style is so pleasant to watch. Unlike other Chinese top pros, he is very content to stay in the mid/long distance from the table lunching ballistic missiles from both wins, wowing audiences. He may be the only player whose backhand loop away from the table is as devastating, if not more, as his forehand loop. Unreal talent.

I definitely did not expect this outcome. Big congrats to Anton Kallberg. He actually has a chance against LSD and if he wins the event he’ll qualify for the WTT Finals!!
Källberg is the best Swede right now so to me it was expected. He has been in the zone for a short time now, if he can stay there the Chinese are in for a treat…

Cheers

Kallberg is such a nice teammate, trying his best to save Moregard from the curse.

Truls' inconsistency is so maddening. Crush Felix on Friday, get crushed by a team mate on a Saturday...

And it looked like it was going to be smooth sailing for him, up until Anton shifted things around a bit. That BH block down the line... It was impressive at first, but after the third time Anton had done it it was clear Truls' wasn't thinking on his feet.

I hope Anton puts up a good fight tomorrow.

Anton "Jorgen" and Truls "Jan-Ove", now Sweden is back, we always need the swedes to truly show Europe how to kick the CNT's ass. Golden era is back again ! we just need one more belgian and a croatian in this equation.
On a Belgian of any European level we are going to have to wait a while. As far as I know, there is nothing in the pipeline that could come close.

I think Anton has a decent chance to win tomorrow. He beat the number one just a few days ago with conviction. If he can knock out the current top two CNT members(with FZD and ML on the side line) in one tournament, he is a legitimate threat to CNT.

He really has. And he deserves to do the finals.

As good as he's playing I can't see him getting a set tomorrow 😬

Surprised you give him so little chance. You must have known him and his game more than me.
One thing Anton impressed me watching his game against WCQ was he is the one of very few players, maybe just him, who could repeatedly forehand loop Wang's bread & butter serve to his forehand and immediately scored. While LSD at current is stronger than WCQ, but he is not unbeatable.

LSD is the favorite for sure but Anton when he is on is a machine. It used to make me feel bad for him when he was the best player in the TTBL and then he was struggling on tour. Happy he found a way to get to a better balance. China doesn't have a monopoly on fast, technical table tennis, Felix and Anton exist.

Yes, and I could be wrong of course!
I'm basing it on how good LYJ was and he still couldn't get a set. Truls beat Felix because the level of aggression he brought from the first point was phenomenal but he couldn't bring the same V his friend Kallberg is my take and Kallberg did play extremely well.
I see the final going exactly as the LYJ semi final did, Kallberg to come close but LSD just being too fast, too consistent and, in the BH side, too powerful.
But I would love to see a Kallberg victory!

They don't, that's true.
But nobody is playing it at LSDs current level.
If he plays like he did in today's semi I think it's over, BUT, if his level drops then Anton looks fully ready to take advantage.

I hear you, LYJ is also a serious player and he got handled convincingly. But Kallberg beats Harimoto who beats LSD. So I guess tomorrow will tell the true story lol....
