That guy who is in all the rallies looks pretty good. It doesn't look like he can lose a point. :) I guess that is Alexander Nekrasov. Is that right?

That's right. Now our best young player Maxim Adushinov, 19 y.o.

The Kid is good. And somehow, even when Alexander plays Maxim, Maxim wins the point. It looks like the only way to get a point of this kid is by hitting an edge ball.

The funny thing is, that is exactly how I play.....at least in my fantasies. And when I play like that, I think the same music is playing.

Great videos. Fun to watch both players.

Yeah. He is pretty darn good. I like how he is so focused and going for it that in that rally he almost slams into the scorekeeper table going for the ball.

He's a good player, good at what he does anyway. But I really, really hate his style. Watching him sucks the joy out of a game of table tennis. If he has a joint problem in his shoulders, which would explain his cramped style then he's very good, and I was wrong. But if not, it's horrible.

Der_Echte
01-27-2016, 12:27 AM
Rayeez, the Goon Squads are hot on your tail for what U said about my friend. :D

Yeah, his un-orthodox style isn't the most pleasant thing to look at and he surprisingly gets back some stuff flat dead spin, and wins points from it. I get you, but the sport needs EVERY player and EVERY possible style in the worst way right now. This is HIS home club and HIS home territory.

Besides, do you REALLY want to be the one who pissed him off and causes him to stop posting these great vids from that part of the world?

Heck, I'll kick the goon squads aside and be the first in FRONT of the line after the one who does that. You are reminding me of that guy complaining in Greg Letts' vid about LP should be illegal and that there is only one kind of "right" skills and athleticism...

I've heard tell that he likes the video footage of all the hot women who can also REALLY play. And I don't see anyone else who has such good footage or the amount of good footage of this kind. Of club level play that is pretty high and shows shows as much variety of players.

But, most importantly: the women.

I consider you a buddy so don't read this the wrong way.

I don't give two flying Fs about how he plays or whether he has injuries etc. When you learn this game at a certain age, everything is so much harder that people like Der_Echte, Carl and myself and walking miracles. And to get the coaching to improve can be so hard and expensive and even accepting that, the time to work on your game usually means either not having kids or having the most understanding wife in the world or just a job where you don't have to deal with your family at all and can train a little in your spare time.

Whenever you see an adult learner or non-pro, please be kind. If you want, I can go grab my video from 2 -3 years ago and I looked just like that. And I have gotten some of my best wins playing like that, even as I try to stop playing that way.

So even while I like putting heavy topspin on the ball, I will backhand block you to death all over the table if I will win the match doing so. And if you don't believe me...

The best part of this video is having an idea of the ratings of the opposition (many 2200-2600 USATT) and seeing their faces when he wins the point. He reminds me of every time a 1400 or less player plays a shot against me or blocks my killer loop and I am like "Damn, he did that. Effing ratings don't play matches!"

There's a player in my club who plays like this, and I find his style very annoying. I beat him 3-0 easily. So I tend to avoid playing him. But this type of player is relatively easy to beat if you have even just a moderate feel for the ball; vary spin, speed, and placement; or even push the ball back to his backhand.

Watched Dmitri play. Good thing is, he clearly enjoys playing and that's the most important thing really. But, frankly, competitively he would barely make 4 points against any half decent player playing even in the 3rd team in my club. The players he is playing against seem to hit one shot and are surprised when the ball comes back.
Against a half decent player ( half decent is a player who hits a high quality shot every time - i.e. proportion of heavy spin is equal to the speed of the shot) not only would he struggle to block even the first shots back (with his extremely long serves, and VERY high pushes) but, on top of that, they will be waiting for as many blocks as he can put on the table and simply blitz him off the table as he doesn't really move much/well at all. Really good to watch your games though Dimitri )))

You gotta understand a few things about Herr Berg to put it in perspective why NL played the way he did and acted the way he did. Herr Berg is NOT ur average oldish awkward no-skills backwoods country chump you are gunna have Ur way with. You think that way vs him, he is gunna eat you alive. Dude can bring it. He played 2000+ level for a good little time. He is hyper competitive and can get under Ur skin with his style of choing and comments to himself. A lot of hotshot 2000 loopers try to play him brain dead go down 0-3. The dude can block can counter, and knows the short FH and then deep BH corner gets the RH attackers a LOT. His serve looks real easy to put away... until you miss too many of them. He stays in rallies a lot better than you would think. He can apply his own tactics very effectively and if you do not adjust, you will go down. He has the appearance of a real old salty gent and no younger dude wants to lose vs him, so they give their best vs him and fail more often than they would like.

That is why players absolutely relish a victory vs him. You heard all the cheers for NL at the end, so now you got a little background to know why what happened.

Seems like most of the players like to get into hard hitting rallies RIGHT AWAY, so they serve easy long to get that ball rolling... nothing wrong with that, one should perform serves in the manner to get what into the rallies one wants.

Der_Echte
04-10-2016, 02:24 PM
Against the female player in this vid, she will crush-kill anything high or bang bang fast, but vs medium to heavy underspin, she will soft topspin. This is pretty clear and known, yet everyone seems to pop it up and go to the fast draw six-killer blast away rally. The few times anyone did a hookshot to her wide FH, it was a clear winner or got a ball to finish easily, yet I see few attempts at this, maybe her balls are quality enough to make this difficult.

I do not see her flip short underspin, s I would give her heavy dose of that and short dead balls, then either heavy topsin away or blast a winner on the popup from dead ball. I do not think she likes extreme heavy topspin slow and shallow or deep by endline. That would be something to tryout and I do not see that in the vids over time. Maybe everyone tried that out and sucks at it, or she is too good to cope with that tactic and the best poison is to go into the fun blast away rallies.

Only Dmitriy seems to have anything close to an effective set of tactics vs her, but she is several levels a better player.

Every time I see a vid from Dmitriy's club, I keep seeing really good players fall to the yellow jersey girl the same way. They simply are not going to over-power her on the first shot if they try blasting away right away, she knows where it is going and counter-blasts. I keep seeing Dmitriy use what seems to be the only effective tactic anyone in his club has vs her: an UNPREDICTABLE fast and flat BH slap or punch shot. That is the only fast shot that troubles her, but of course she is several levels above our friend Dmitriy.

Every player I see serves LONG and medium pace and gets right into the bang bang stuff close to table and far away from table. Nobody in that club does it better than her so why try? Other shots can work. Why not move her into the table with a short underspin or dead spin and rip the next ball while she is close or doesn't know where you are attacking? Why not open first ball with really heavy spin, then try to blast away? Why does everyone want to try to blast it to exactly where she is ready to make her happy?

Well, I guess one can admire all the guys in that club playing to make her happy... but heck, they gotta play vs her another way if they want more points.

Dmitri,

You seem to be the only one in your club to have any effective tactics vs the pips women, why are the elite men in the club so reluctant to follow your demonstration? They appear to be more stubborn than Scottish Der_Echte mind.

That guy who is in all the rallies looks pretty good. It doesn't look like he can lose a point. :) I guess that is Alexander Nekrasov. Is that right?

I got Karakasevic flashbacks seeing that footage. Awesome!

Her level is quite OK, even if stance could be improved upon. Me, I just noted the (to me) strange rhythm in the free arm movement; at my club, some players also have that.

These videos are invigorating. Good play, not so good play, what I see first and foremost is the joy of it. I like that a lot, and when near Irkutsk (not likely to happen, but not impossible also) I'll certainly go out of my way to make a visit.
