His expression has to be. Felix played as flawless a match as I can remember. The variation was just perfect and the speed and composure - clearly a problem and it is a nice to see his level translating directly to this matchup.

That one is very difficult to harness, especially for European players. In 2023, Felix has increasingly become able to quell the emotional outbursts when things don't go his way.

My favorite part was that he realized he had to use a new serve when things got tight. I hope this kind of innovation will continue because otherwise, you get too predictable in the tight moments. I am sure the analytics teams are already doing their work lol!

Harimoto vs LGY today. Predictions??

Harimoto is the higher ranked player, and LGY has a reputation for being flimsy in big matches. This one seems like a real 50-50 match. Harimoto won the last match they played, but that was way back in 2022 and he has lost a lot of matches to lower ranked players lately.

Wang Hao’s true disciple is French
Yes - it appears that Felix has the strongest penhold RPB game now out of everyone else. He also plays a similar rallying game (except even closer to the table and speedier than Wang Hao).

I hope Harimoto has recovered and put up a tough fight. LGY is on fire recently so it won’t be easy.

LSD’s BH is arguably on par with, if not better than FZD’s.

Felix has proven that RPB can compete with shakehand bh.

No way... FZD BH is way, way better than LSD. LSD relies too much on pure speed while FZD BH has everything - speed, power, spin, placement, control, safety, rhythm variations.

Imo LSD has a lot of room to cover before he reaches FZD levels of greatness. But he is well on his way for sure.

FZD tbh just needs more trickiness in his games to allow for more breathing room when he is not at peak form. WCQ is super tricky but sometimes I feel he is less solid than FZD or even LJK in the rallies.

But in terms of BH, FZD is unrivalled. Only a prime form ZJK would match his skills BH to BH imo.

Felix forehand is weaker than his backhand. I think with RPB where now the penhold blade has two rubbers, it just becomes heavy. And that negate some of the strong suit of the penhold forehand. Yet Felix backhand is just very strong. In addition, with RPB, you naturally put side spin on top of the top spin so it is even harder for the opponent to get used to that (since not too many people play with penhold nowadays).
