Losing 0-4 is tough at any tournament, but at the Olympics in front of the home crowd is a heartbreaker. Her heavy use of spin is a huge strength against other players, but is an Achilles heel if she's not being able to calibrate it in when playing Batra.

Hirano breathing a sigh of relief.
Yeah, she just didn't have the right strategy at all. And Batra isn't chopped liver on her inverted side either and the twiddling to punch block made it hard for Pavade to develop a rhythm. Batra needs to face sone experienced player like Hirano, if she gets a regular inverted looper next, she is going to the quarters.

I think people would beg to differ, Felix drops his head close to his paddle on just about every serve, it is hard to tell the difference between when he is hiding and when he is not. Not trying to defend illegal serves in general, but saying that trying to make a particular player the villain and just about any other player not named Truls Moregardh the hero is a lost cause.
Even Truls's serves are not all that clean.

Lily 4-2 Takahashi (8, 7, -9, -8, 8, 8)

Takahashi won 5 of 6 encounters (winning last 2) between 2022 and 2024. Once again, the H2H is useless in the majors.
I agree with you, zeio. We should all remember this if SYS meets Hayata.

Fun little tidbit I saw - Alexis stuck his racket in what looks like a Revolution Nr3 racket press after the match.

I love Amy Wang’s style but especially her demeanour. It’s a mix between Koki Niwa and Mima Ito
Well, her throwing away a lead checks out with Koki Niwa. It was a great match nevertheless

So anyone watching PRK right now in XD still sold on the idea that Japan losing to PRK was due to some special technical failing of Hayata and Harimoto?
Why wouldn't anyone think that? WCT and DHK are individually significantly weaker than Harimoto and Hayata and a rightie/rightie combo at that, yet they put up a far better fight against the DPRK team. Clearly there's something wrong with the Harimoto/Hayata pairing in doubles.

You mean the Hong Kong team that was put on notice by the prior results and the accumulated videotape and still lost, only with a better score?

Is it a case of the North Korean team having a bad seeding or Hayata and Harimoto playing poorly? Despite the obvious answer to that question, are you still going to defend your indefensible narrative? I guess the medal matches might give us more answers.
