By the way, if you watch the point which lead a conflict between Gauzy and Shibaev, its first hitting net and then hitting the clamp of the net from the side of Shibaev. Probably he thought that it hit the edge of the table but not the clamp and confused him. Or maybe he thought that it is part of the table and learned the rule inside the match.
