I didn't understand, what was that about?

Other than that I was ready to post a pretty long rant about Gauzy who couldn't be arsed for much of the match, and became a bit cocky whenever he won a nice point. He did come out of hibernation eventually, and I am hoping this was just getting in the rythm of things while Gacina has already had a few competitive matches. My being so annoyed is because I have seen so many French players, even more so in tennis, and myself (the level of play is irrelevant) go down that way. Sorry for the monologue. ;)

I am hoping for a QF vs Xu Xin, still. He's super talented, got a great coach. Please don't screw it up.
Hope I didn't say something really stupid here... WB's post (really??) reminded me he's had back injuries quite recently. Apologies if that's the case.

FZD WR#1 in April
Retired when he was 2 games down and 5~1 on 4th game. Injure before or during the match?

Even if Timo won, his ranking points would still be lower than FZD's. Only Dima had chance to surpass FZD if he reached final this time.
Congrats to FZD, the third #WR1 in the year of 2018!
ok thanks, since you are the master of new system can you tell me how qualification works? For instance Groth had to win 4 or 5 matches to advance to top 32 and Mizutani was already in. Let's suppose Mizutani will loose with ma long (hope not) who will get more points for this tour Groth or Mizutani?

Since JM proceeded to R16, JM would get 1350 if he lost to ML and more than that if he beat ML.
For Groth, he got 1125 as loser in R32 + 57 * 2 (group matches played) = 1239

Dima already withdrew from German Championships and Qatar Open due to back problems. If he really needed to withdraw here is speculation

Too bad. :(
Imagine how Franziska's confidence would have been boosted if he would have won regular.

Rainneverever, do you know who Chen Xingtong's coach is? I've seen her coach Sun Yingsha in the past, during China Open iirc. Was she a notable player?
Zhang Qin, the only female coach in CNT. WY, Zhang Qiang, Che Xiaoxi, Li Jiayi are in her coach group.
She was a CNT player, but did not win any world champion.

Was she once the cadet coach? Can't understand how she gets assigned all these somewhat lower players...
