Nope. Show them my post #2,568 from the Paris thread comparing Ma Lin's reaction after CM beat SYS for gold at Tokyo vs. Paris.
Ma Lin was CM's coach back then, he became the women's team head coach in '22. Li Sun was the women's HC back then and there's a picture in my post of him after CM's win.

Everyone will have have to make a judgement for themselves. But for me, even Wang Yidi is clapping for her teammates while Ma Lin has that hand caught in the cookie jar look.

Let's reverse the question this time

Why weren't the usual team of detractors here suspicious of foul play when Ma Lin hugged Chen Meng in 2020? So that was all normal to you, but suddenly in 2024, not celebrating is a problem?

It's clear that you're fault finders whatever the CNT does that doesn't dance along to what you seem as normal behaviour. No point arguing with "I'm anti control freaks that I'll be the arbiter of normal behaviour" folks.

Do you think the CNT doesn't have the clout to restrain Guo Bin from giving Chen Meng that much money? Why are they not doing it then??

Lots of questions for the resistance army.

So what exactly are you calling a "conspiracy theory"? The idea that the CNT would have been happier with an SYS win? Or the idea that there was less celebration because the CNT would have been happier with an SYS win?

"Women's teams should play in the same style as men's team" is a well-known CNT direction. Cheng Men's play style is based on feminine play styles (some characters resemble Zhang Yining and Liu Shiwen), though she has adapted to fit the direction. She has now won her second gold medal in the Olympics. It means that the direction ... is not proven yet!

All Chinese champions are militarians and must obey by Chief Commander. SYS hand up at her forehead

I know it's hard to do but try to be consistent, I asked a question, I didn't make any allusion to a conspiracy theory mod, Is CNT celebrating CM's win in 2020 a good idea given the image of a team that they try to stick to??

this is a problem with TTD members who probably can't read chinese.

the conspiracy theories are all coming out of China against CNT, this conspiracy didn't start from TTD or is an anti Chinese sentiment.
In fact, this thread is so delayed on the matter.

Some videos that was posted (of what I saw after the gold medal match) has since been removed. I'm not sure if it is IOC asking for its removal or what, but the finals was on 3 Aug, it is now 21 Aug (thread started yesterday was 17 days late). The internet is flooded with so much Chinese content about CNT being pissed off with Chen Meng, just like there are tons of WCQ fans posting about his racket being physically broken on purpose.... all these "theories" are just mere translated to English by some of us on TTD.

But, from what I see, LGL is pissed. I have never seen a video of him more pissed.
Maybe even more pissed than Wang Hao's lost in 2004. Or maybe the pissed off face comes every 20 years...who knows.

Hope Chen Meng will be fine and will continue to play on. SYS has not been good enough this year to be invincible, she just needs to get back stronger.

After CM won the WS at Tokyo 2020, she claimed her era has arrived and LGL didn't take it well as she had no national titles, no continental titles, with only the Olympic title and World Cup title, both beating SYS in the final. That's left a bad taste in the CNT's mouth since.
so when a player win in the olympics and world cups, will lead to repercussion that leaves bad taste with the boss, the entire teams?
this sounds like discrimination.

why don't CM just throw the match to make everyone happy, is that what CNT wants?
why don't CNT just fire CM so she doesn't play or risk her winning?

this sounds like a terrible toxic work environment to be in.
I wonder if we will ever hear what Chen Meng says about her experience on that day and the build up to receiving the gold medal, and afterwards.

This is CM's final event in TT; she announced her retirement following the Olympics. In fact, she was not initially on the singles list, but Wang Manyu lost to India that made CM in the list.

It could be perceived as toxic, but it could also be viewed as normal for an important sport with significant benefits for participants, particularly TT in China, which is a national sport.

She was so oppressed bro
Alright we get it.
Is she the first player to be reprimanded by LGL??
Again, making a mountain out of a molehill.

Yeah and I would have thought if the retirement was known prior to the gold medal match, surely wouldn’t the bosses give her some form of fake clap just to say thanks for her 2 singles golds and years of devotion to the team?

I follow CNT for few decades now, first time seeing a major win, with pissed off looks. Can’t say the recording were tampered with as I first saw it on a live broadcast.

If you watch the full match, there were many glimpses before the final point was played on those facial expressions when it was clearly SYS might loose. It should be a relaxed match for cnt bosses as far as history is concern with 2 of them in the finals, but there was a lot of tension and pissed off faces when your reigning champion defended her title.

So, we have a 2 time OG singles champion with that kind of sad and rude (from fans) send off.
Chen Meng matches Deng Yaping and Zhang Yining with 2 singles gold. Beating Li Xiaoxia, Ding Ning, Wang Nan who only had 1 gold.

Chen Meng should of had a better send off.
I’m not even a fan of hers….but she was there to hold it when Zhu fell ill.

We're just supposed to accept what some rabid Chinese fans say hook, line and sinker? Doesn't work that way.

You and your coterie made a fuss about it, even brought "peer reviewed" videos by the usual suspects as proof. Now you claim you didn't make a fuss? That's very funny.

Yeah I think that's what got people interested in the topic to begin with. I know nothing about CM aside from watching her play for the past couple of years and getting the impression that she's maybe the most fierce competitor on the women's team. She finds a way to win when it counts and has the accolades to prove it.

I get that the fans are a cult of personality for WCQ and SYS but that reaction by the team was just plain weird. Without any explanation, of course people are going to be curious as to what the inner workings of the CNT are because that's just a natural reaction to something they've never seen before.

And then when you got people coming here accusing the people asking questions of prejudice, conspiratorial thinking, or moral failings, well that's going to make people even more curious about what the hell is actually going on.

Anyway, appreciate you sharing your insider opinion, even though you acknowledge that it's limited. It's good to know that Chinese social media has been very heated about this topic. I didn't appreciate being gaslit by members here into thinking this situation was somehow absolutely normal.

all good

what I can see is all those from the chinese community.
I actually forgot to ask my chinese coach source (and I ran into him 4 times the past 2 weeks, 3 times last week along).
well, the CM issue didn't really bother me (hence I was silence on the matter until this thread), but when he returns from Japan, I'm sure I will ask him (if I remember).

all those talks about CM is she was forced to retire and all that.
well, I'm waiting to see if she speaks up about anything.
She sure didn't get any send off and she wasn't hated like some others....
a bit sad, but that is life i guess.

One of my favourite female players growing up was also fired from the team, despite being a grandslam hopeful.
Guo Yue.
Apparently she had disciplinary issues.
