CNT nicknames may change when players grow senior. Some nicknames are only used by close friends. Also in Chinese culture, some nicknames are impolite for juniors to use to call seniors. It is impolite for juniors to call seniors only by first name (need to add Brother and Sister after first name or last name). While seniors tend to call juniors by nicknames or only by first name.


FZD: Little Fatty or Fatty, LJK: Big Fatty, WCQ: Big Head. These are now frequently used by CNT coaches, CNT players, journalists and media. I bet when they are getting senior, they won't like these nicknames used any more. These nicknames are a little mean.


Being most senior in men's team and team captain, ML is now called Brother Long or Captain Long by younger players, even by coaches sometimes. When he was young, he was called Long Zai (boy). Being second senior, XX is now called Brother Xin while coaches and ML sometimes call him Big Anaconda. Similarly although DN's nickname is Big Baby, LSW's Small Jujube, young players call them Sister Ning, Sister Zao (jujube) instead of nicknames. Journalists and media use Captain Long, Big Anaconda, Captain Ning, Small Jujube
more often.


Being close, ML, YA used to call LGY Sister Lin. One explanation is said that in Chinese "sister" sounds similar to "no eyebrows". Another being that LGY's body weight used to be lighter than women's team. Anyways it is mean and ML, YA now call him by first name.

Looking at the men's singles draw it *could* be that Harimoto has to face Chinese players from START to FINISH.

Even more impressive is that all Chinese women qualified, besides Wang Yidi who lost to her teammate Wu Yang.
