I wrote a few years ago over at MyTT (lost forever) that I needed more time to observe and that Pavade could've done better against Asian players. This match is exactly what I meant by that. Same old problem. She got lucky a week or 2 ago when Hirano (who actually led until the endgame in all 3 games) and Ito were fatigued (forget SYB).

Felix drops his head close to his paddle on just about every serve, it is hard to tell the difference between when he is hiding and when he is not
You're allowed to serve deceptively, as long as you don't fully obstruct the opponents view of the ball.

I mean, come on.

NICE TRICK BY BATRA.

Batra using trashy pimps, far below friction limitation. Using one and the same rubber sheet for months without refreshing is the very trick that Batra can beat everyone.

Pavade lost and is sitting on her bench crying.
Losing 0-4 is tough at any tournament, but at the Olympics in front of the home crowd is a heartbreaker. Her heavy use of spin is a huge strength against other players, but is an Achilles heel if she's not being able to calibrate it in when playing Batra.

Hirano breathing a sigh of relief.

Lily 4-2 Takahashi (8, 7, -9, -8, 8, 8)

Takahashi won 5 of 6 encounters (winning last 2) between 2022 and 2024. Once again, the H2H is useless in the majors.
