Could've been both I guess.

But now my official head canon is that Harimoto was too sweaty but has an irrational phobia of taking his shirt off in public and needed to go behind closed doors to do it.
not really it looks like its the protocol. Ibra Diaw had to do the same the other day

But as @zeio and myself have pointed out, this has been an issue for a long time, it is a bit surprising as you said for it to get called out at this match only, but her tomahawk has a low backward toss that has made it dubious forever.

She got faulted for the pendulum serve, which I suppose also has the backward toss suspicion. If no one calls out Dima's tomahawk's serves, everyone else' should be spared lol. The way his toss goes is literally ~

But yes the issue is consistency of enforcement rather than anything else.

On a side note, CM's playing like her main bat also got stomped on - very out of sorts. Either she spent lots of time consoling a special someone or it's the expensive-looking jade pendant weighing her down.

MS R16
A. Lebrun (11) 1-4 Calderano (4) (3, -5, -6, -3, -8)
Alexis reached his seeding position. Acceptable. Kudos to separation by association.
One step away from SF, JWJ next for Calderano?

JWJ (8) 4-0 Togami (10) (7, 16, 10, 9)
Togami is back to I-prep-for-Harimoto-year-round mode.

Calderano 3-2 LJK (6, 8, -11, -8, 6)

Calderano has fixed some long-standing issues of his game at the table, especially on FH. If he could reproduce and maintain this form throughout Paris 2024, then reaching the SF with his seeding won't be out of the question. The potential concern is that he might have shown his hand a little too soon.

Nice attempt to get back into Game 6 by Alexis but Hugo looked unbeatable for him today.

Awesome to have the crowd still cheer for Alexis so much even after a loss.

Edit: Crowd really got Alexis spirits back up after that loss. Went around to acknowledge the crowd with a smile. Great stuff to see.

This match looking like the typical Togami experience. Some strong plays on his side but always finds a way to lose the close games. Feels often like he's his own worst enemy.

Edit: Togami's step-around timing has been really awful this match. Everytime he commits it's an instant point loss.
