Trulls uses illegal serve. Look carefully: he lift his arm at eye height and then throw the ball. His palm also hide the ball
Come on man, nobody has a problem with Truls serve. Contact is completely visible and he's got one of the most vertical tosses among the pros.

Whatever he's doing it gives him no unfair advantage.

No wonder Hayata played so tentatively. I thought she had heard Zeio calling her stupid for overhitting. Some of those blocks were really good though. But those bad receives were too much to recover from.
That's exactly why I keep stressing the importance of playing smart. Now her WS bronze and WT silver could be in jeopardy.

It's different. CM is on the last leg of her career and washed-up. Even Szocs could beat her twice (despite CM's fans insisting she was playing with injuries).

SYS is not. They are from the same generation. This is more like Ito and SYS. But falling ill after WTTC 2024 tells me Hayata is also about to hit her limit like Ito did in 2019. Having a history of getting injured, she has gotten less injury-prone with the help of 岡雄介/OKA Yusuke?, but her dumbness can't be made up for with hard work.

If Hayata were to beat SYS, it should've happened already in this cycle. It's not realistic to expect SYS to collapse like XX did at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. It's like Harimoto who said WCQ didn't collapse after dropping the first game at WTTC 2024 like he did at WTTC 2022. The way SYS stepped up at WTTC 2024 under that condition means Hayata is telling the sad truth.

Really impressed with Truls. He's making it a point to take the 1st attack no matter what the consequence. His touch play is mostly to get Hugo off balance and attack whatever comes back. Hugo has to get the 1st attack in especially on his own serve.

Another amazing win for Truls.

Hugo was looking amazing playing fast and powerful in this tournament.

The tricky disruptive style he's been criticized for constantly during his recent slump was used effectively to win this match.

Not sure how much of it works against FZD but I guess we'll see tomorrow!

It’s officially a China vs Sweden encounter in the final, 2nd encounter in a major final between FZD and Truls, and also a 2008 Olympic semifinal rematch between Wang Hao and Persson except as coaches. Bring it on.

That’s the most genuine and heartfelt reaction from Truls I’ve ever seen after winning.

And Hugo for Bronze medal.

As i predicted, and now Truls will lose against Fan, no doubt needed.
Anyone in the final would lose to Fan.

But Hugo's play today shows exactly why he would have lost to fan. It is crazy how your weaknesses return at the worst possible time.

It won't work against FZD. Hugo is a special case of exactly the kind of player who that style shouldn't work against but it does because he learned TT late so he doesn't have a natural feeling for spin. It is crazy that Hugo essentially uses one serve with varying spins and placements in his career. But the predictability of that serve makes it easy for Truls to just disrupt.

It was a dip in results but if you looked at his game, it was all there, just subtle things. Implementing new things in his game. It came together at the right time. He deserves this, he replaced WCQ and deserves the medal.
