The World Junior Championships were held in Shanghai, China.
Top seeded Yuto Muramatsu had a tough draw in front of him. China had already won the team event withouth losing a single match and 4 out of 6 Chinese players were in his side of the singles draw. He was in good shape though as he defeated European Junior Champion Alexandre Cassin 4-0 in the second round. Next up were Lyu Xiang and Xue Fei. Meanwhile Yu Ziyang, winner of the 2014 Japan Open also made it to the final by defeating Liu Dingshuo. The final was a repeat of the team event: Yu Ziyang won gold by defeating Muramatsu in straight sets.
The women's event also had a non-Chinese top seeded player: Doo Hoi Kem of Hongkong. Other much anticipated players included the Japanese team of which both Mima Ito and Miu Hirano reached the quarter finals. Doo Hoi Kem was eliminated earlier by Zhu Chaohui. After the Japanese girls were also defeated the semi finals were all-Chinese. Out of these four, Wang Manyu became the champion by beating Zhu Chaohui in the final.

The World Tour Grand Finals were held in Bangkok, Thailand. No Chinese players had qualified themselves for the event as none of them played participated in enough World Tour events.
In the women's event Feng Tianwei and Kasumi Ishikawa were top seeded. Shan Xiana and Han Ying, Germany's 3rd and 4th seeds were eliminated in the first round by Yu Mengyu and Yu Fu. The biggest surprise was Seo Hyowon of Korea who fought her way into the final where she met Kasumi Ishikawa. Altough Ishikawa showed no problems at all with Seo Hyowon, she still earned a great boost in this month's world rankings.
Jun Mizutani and Dimitrij Ovtcharov were top seeds in the men's event. After Ovtcharov nearly dropped out in the quarter finals in a close 4-3 match with Chuang Chih-Yuan, the only unexpected player in the semi finals was Hongkong's Tang Peng who defeated Vladimir Samsonov, but beating Ovtcharov would be a step too far. In a repeat of the 2014 German Open final, this time it was Mizutani taking most of the prize money. With a 11-9 victory in the deciding set he took revenge for what happened in Magdeburg.
The doubles champions were Cho Eonrae and Seo Hyundeok of Korea, and Miu Hirano together with Mima Ito for Japan.
