Am I the only one who thinks this is one of the best matches of the year and forgives "Big Fatty" for wearing his heart in his mouth for the final set?

Its amazing how well the chinese youngsters play on home soil. They are quite affected when they compete internationally and in different surroundings. Liang struggled with freitas last year, but he has beaten all big three 2 times each in two consecutive chinese trials. Would love to see liang vs fan as a big rivalry in the future

Why did they not play to 11 in the 5th end?

In Chinese Super League, they play to 7 in the 5th set. You could look at it from the perspective that they want the match over sooner. Or that they want the players to really have to bring it in the last game since getting behind early is bad news.

Thanks Carl, I have to say not a fan of that idea!

A lot of stuff in the Super League is done to facilitate faster play so that they can stay within a reasonable TV schedule. Tennis is looking for ways to adapt to such demands and I expect at some point that table tennis will also follow suit. The 7 point decider is interesting and fun and similar to the Super tie break in tennis in doubles.

They also give the players a new ball every time the ball goes to the barriers away from the players. That leaves quite a few balls on the floors of the court.
