HI Thomas,
So you wanted to know how the Viscaria played with H3 on it!!
set up WAS !!! H3 Neo 2.15mm sponge mid hard, which I think is 40 degree and Skyline TG3 Neo 2.15mm sponge mid hard. Un-boosted.
I tried it out yesterday and today.
I had my first COVID jab on Saturday and was feeling really lethargic on Sunday, but I had a practice session anyway!!
Started off with the H3 set up, I found that both the H3 Neo and Skyline 3 Neo felt really, really hard on the Viscaria!! no softness whatsoever, FH and BH topspin were ok but way slower for straight line speed of the T05/T19 on the other Viscaria, spin was good but I made quite a lot of mistakes!! Both long and in the net!!!I put this down to the effects of the jab at first!!
Serving was average, pushing ok but I couldn’t get over how hard the set up felt.
For comparison I swapped over to the Zhang Jike ALC blade (which is similar to a Viscaria, if not the same but with a different handle!!) with Bluegrip C2/V1 on it.
Consistency returned immediately!! Softer feeling.
Today I gave it another go, same results, just felt really really hard, even though the set up is slower, I found it hard to control consistently after 45 minutes it hit the reserve bench and out came the ZJ ALC again!!
It could be that for a good few months I haven’t touched any of my set ups with DHS rubbers on them for any length of time during practice, and have lost the feeling for these rubbers. Additionally the H3 Neo provincial 37 degree and Skyline 3 provincial blue sponge on a Maze magic blade (that I have used as a reference for say 5 minutes or so) were boosted and this softens them up somewhat!!! Maybe my technique isn’t up to scratch for H3 on a blade such as a Viscaria.
Tonight the H3/Skyline 3 were removed from the Viscaria, pronto!! They are now being boosted!! Viscaria now has the RZ from the Acoustic (all wood) on it and that will be tried out over the next couple of days!!
Once boosting is completed I’ll try the H3/Skyline on the Acoustic!!
I was pretty surprised that T05/T19 and the Bluegrip C2/V1 both felt so much better on the Viscaria and considering that they are both generally faster and way more springy were for me, more consistent and controlled.
mind you the Viscaria has a reputation for paring very well with the Tenergies!!
