What an insane line up, the worlds best are all participating. Players from across the world are heading to China to battle at the platinum world tour event in Chengdu. Can Ma Long's crazy form be stopped? Will Fan Zhendong get 1 step closer to victory.... will Zhang Jike find some form to dismantle the dragon? Number 3 seed Xu Xin will be looking to take the top spot. Germany's Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Timo Boll are a great addition to the mix and will be players to watch out for. Japan's Jun Mizutani has not entered this event however his compatriot Koki Niwa who was victorious over Ovtcharov at the Worlds will be threat to the top guns. China youngsters Liang Jingkun and Lin Gaoyuan will be dangerous and can go all the way. How could we leave out the wonderkid? 13 year old Tomokazu Harimoto will be looking for big wins and is the most unpredictable player on the circuit right now! A lot of look forward to peeps!

A fantastic event to follow, be sure to get involved on the TTD discussions and join us in the live chat in the ITTF Live Streaming!

Samsonov is just "old" as an athlete.

I think Harimoto is very strong and a bad matchup for Vladi. Samsonov is usually wins a lot of points by being like a wall and manipulating the spin. Harimoto is very talented in reading the spin, hard to deceive. Plus he plays a very aggressive yet consistent attacking game.
I said earlier, I think Harimoto has the same talent as Boll. By looking closely at his short-game it can be seen.

Before China Open, ZJK attended at least three variety shows in a row. First one is the intense Amazing Race recorded aboard. Later when he attended the recording of a singing show, the staff said he had not rested for 30 hours. Not sure what he was doing for that 30 hours, but of course not playing TT. He attended another recording on 6/19 with Wang Tao and Guo Yue (wow) for some 5 hours before going to Chengdu for China Open. Is that how he got the hip injury?

Come on, Samsonov isn't finished, it's just that some limitations comes with the age, i can't pretend him to play like 10, 20 years ago. I don't think he has a top10 level anymore, but top20, i don't think it means finished..
He's a smart player, i think thats why he's still on the top, and... well, Harimoto is very smart too and also has a solid play, i was waiting for him to win.

Also, i must say the entire japanese team is doing very well, not only harimoto and miu hirano, thay already have an advantage over the young chinese, they have more international experience, i think that's one of the weakest points of the chinese team.
If everything keeps going on like this, the japanese team will be a very serious challenge for the chinese team in tokyo.
