This is really awesome to see. Xue Fui really seems like the future of penhold to me. In many ways he beats FZD in ways that XX (who i think is outdated) cannot. XX is spectacular because he still makes use of spectacular footwork and the best loop since/better than Ma Lin. But this is to make up for his rather weak backhand. Penhold is about spin and control. FZD is about power and control. I don't think power beats control, though I do think power beats spin. I still think PH has better control than SH, but the penholders have to prove in even though we are in the minority. And also outspin the power hungry....

That is true. LGL once said Xue Fei is stronger than young Wang Hao of similar age. I see he is even better built than young Xu Xin.

Lunengs team looks like they bet all at Zhu Yuling!
And some doubles.. Noone else seems to be winning in there, that can be quite dangerous for them..
Anxin on the other hand should win easily.. :)
We will see..

5) Lin Gaoyuan 2:0 Wang Chuqin (11:7, 11:9)

Looking at this, Shanghai, in order to beat Bayi, MUST put Shang Kun into the position 1 in their team. So they can assure Xu Xin to take 2 points. One in the doubles, as he is very strong doubles player. And so he would play the final deciding singles game. Shang Kun already beat FZD, but they should not count on that, but Shang can beat all the others in Bayi´s team. I think that should be their tactics.
For Weiqiao against Bazhou, well, I cant see Bazhou win this, only if Ma Long would choke and he wont..
Bad for Weiqiao is the fact that they always lose the doubles againts Bazhou, but Ma Long´s 2x 3:0 against Jingkun and steady Gaoyuan in the final match position..
This will be interresting too :)

And also good for him is that he can train in the same club with Ma Long ;)

You might be right that this is Shanghai's best chance to win, but it would also be a risky strategy: Fan ZD will most likely win his first singles match, Shang Kun vs Zhou Yu is 50/50 for Shanghai at best - at least as I see it - and there is no garantee that Shanghai will win the doubles with Xu playing in stead of Shang (who is also a very good doubles player). So with Xu as their no. 3 player, they have a much greater risk at losing 0-3 - or possibly 1-3 :-(.

No matter what, one thing is certain: it will be really interesting to see Shanghai's line up for the semi final :)

2) Chen Xingtong vs Liu Shiwen
3) Lan Xi/Chen Xingtong vs Liu Gaoyang/Feng Yalan
4) Wen Jia vs Liu Shiwen
5) Wu Yang vs Liu Gaoyang

Qilu is putting their no 1 player at the no 3 spot here - probably because both Fan and Liu are strong against defenders?

Edit: Qilu's "gamble" didn't pay off, so now either Chen Xingtong or Wen Jia has to beat Liu Shiwen just to stay in the match...

Wov,..
Playing with white-orange pokeball LSW lost out from the comfortable lead 2:1 into 2:3 loss..
Suddenly she couldnt penetrate Xingtongs blocks, interrestinnng....!!
Now the doubles!
Maybe Wu Yang will play eventually, which is no good news for Anxin..
The doubles now will decide the match in my opinion..

That was some pretty close match and LSW didnt play her best today..
Eventually she managed to win 14:12 in the final set, wov, what a drama!
I would love to know what she was talking about in the interview after the match..
Anyways, Anxin won, lets wait for the second semis and thanks for the live stream link!
