Took a tad bit longer than expected to get there but Sweden beats Hong Kong. Sweden is one more player from being a formidable team, either Bergand gets a better level or someone strong comes up in their system. A lefty would be ideal, maybe if Ekholm was younger and hadn't retired lol...
Keep an eye out for Siri Benjegård. Born in 2011. The current European champ for 13 year olds. She also placed 2nd in the 15 year olds division. Give it two years and I bet she will be in the national team :).

Interesting adjustments by WCQ. Seems like he's doing less of those really forward leaning full powered loops and instead is looping with more brushing and arc like LJK's loops.

Amy beats SXN comprehensively 3-1. Pips didn't bother her at all and the score could have easily been 3-0 if not for a momentary lapse in judgement.

Whatever the result of this match, both Germany and USA have new blood.

Down to Lily to take down Wan Yuan and force a decider. But even if they make it through I'm not sure if Rachel Sung can handle Kaufmann.

She definitely can't handle Kaufmann, but interesting to see Lily vs. Yuan. Yuan Wan plays a really flat FH, almost like she has pips on that side, doesn't seem to do well against Lily's game.

The USA women's team apparently has a rule where they only can call time outs unless it's where it's pretty clear that they've already won or lost a match.

Breaking multiple momentum reversing scoring streaks of 6 or 7 points by their opponents in crucial games isnt something to be bothered by.

Better team won but it was dangerously close. First time team USA has been competitive in the team event. Germany P card stepped up under pressure but PP card and veteran need to perform better to beat India.

Correction, first time for a home-grown USA team.
Yeah the home grown part is pretty important.

Though when I think about it, the talent is still from a really small niche in America.

I live within walking distance of one of the top clubs in America (SF bay area) and all of the top youth are from Asian and Indian immigrant families that are successful enough where they can support a very expensive hobby for their kids.

Coaching and high level training for young talent is unfortunately only available for an extremely small handful of players. And it's very expensive.

But for now it's a pretty good pipeline. I've lost to enough kids barely out of elementary school out there to be confident in that lol

Two coaches that Amy works with, Gao Jun, the current US women's coach, and Lily Yip, the lady who is named on the club where Amy trains at and where her personal match coach also works, both use short pips as penholders so Amy has decent exposure.
