It was announced on Saturday 25th May that one of the pairings for the 2013 China Open will consist of Germany’s Timo Boll and China’s Ma Long, both of these world class players have proven their skill and worth individually and so it will be very interesting to see how they will do as a partnership in the international arena.
Timo Boll has expressed how he is happy with the partnership on the Chinese twitter Weibo “I am very happy to be playing with Ma Long we have played together previously in the pen hold Vs. Shake hand challenge (video below) and our results were good, so I am hopeful we will do well together”.
Meanwhile Ma Long joked in a phone interview that they are already familiar with each other and are able to communicate through the use of their eyes.
With Timo Boll being a player who has always been considered one of the biggest threats to the Chinese team, it was asked if this partnership could be detrimental in any way to Ma Long or the Chinese national team. Ma Long was quick to respond “We are very familiar with each other and even without the doubles we are aware of each other’s pros and cons, plus we have played doubles together before. There is no need to worry about any secrets being stolen”.
