Didn't get a chance to watch this, but Maria Xiao beat Amy Wang 3-0 (11,7,4). I remember Samara also beat Amy Wang 3-0 at the Mixed Teams with heavy, heavy spin such that Amy was not able to hit through it. I wonder if that is what happened with Maria. Lack of a spin game is a glaring hole in Amy's repertoire.

It was not a problem with Xiao's spin but of consistency. Wang had two consecutive setpoints in the first game but lost them, and then she made a lot of forced and unforced errors in the second and third games. Maria Xiao is playing in a very consistent way this year and getting very good results in doubles with Diaconu and MD with Robles, giving her a lot of international experience that Amy Wang probably lacks

正在陵水带队进行军训的国家队总教练李隼接受本刊记者专访，介绍了球队教练员分组情况及后续安排。

由老中青三代教练员组成新一届国家队教练组已经开展工作，总教练李隼向记者介绍了国家队教练员的配置，“结合实际工作需要，我们通过双向选择，进行了男女队教练的分配。

女队情况，主管教练邱贻可分管：孙颖莎、蒯曼、杨蕙菁、孙铭阳、李雅可；主管教练钟金勇分管：陈梦、张瑞、王晓彤、韩菲儿；主管教练徐辉分管：王曼昱、钱天一、何卓佳、陈熠、张缤月；主管教练李大成分管：王艺迪、郭雨涵、杨屹韵、刘炜珊、吴洋晨；主管教练马俊峰分管：陈幸同、范思琦、石洵瑶、朱思冰、齐菲。

据悉，在陵水军训后，国乒将于大年初五在北京集结，进行为期一个月的封闭集训，准备接下来的新加坡大满贯赛事和南非德班世界锦标赛。

Gardos was complaining to the ref that Harimoto's free hand was bothering him because it looked too much like a signal for a let (you know how Harimoto's free hand always looks like he's ready for a high five). Ref gives Harimoto a warning despite it not being illegal at all.

Fraser Riley then had some pretty harsh words for Gardos. Lol

Hope ML retires after the Olympics. XP has fallen into a trough in the last 2 years, maybe intensive personal coaching is what he needs instead of regular team drills and coordination. But there's high likelihood that he'll still play second fiddle to one of the new top 5 players. 5 coaches for a 25 man team may not be optimal for the average player.

I actually thought of that every time that I saw HT played. Most Japanese players raise their free hands like that, SYB as well.
