Kaufmann played very smart by keeping the ball on the table and wait for her chance to kill. Batra still relied too much on her BH when under pressure and Kaufmann exploited it by playing to her wide FH.

Annett Kaufmann absolutely unstoppable. Not sure if Nina could have done better. Born 2006, just 18 this year and if she keeps up this performance she'll be a shoo-in for singles LA 2028. India still have a chance to take the last 3 singles but they've made things very hard for themselves.

Surprised that India gave the CNT A team quite the scare not that long ago, and is now struggling against the CNT D team :sneaky:
I doubt this German team could beat China's no.10-12 players. In any case, Wan Yuan, like Qiu Dang, is German born. Shan Xiaona said that they frequently exchange language notes since Shan isn't fluent in German and Wan isn't fluent in Chinese, by native standards anyway.

Winter posted on her Instagram saying that the management didn't believe she could recover in time.

That makes Wan Yuan the first ever PPP card. Wasn't even sent to Durban 2023 (not even for WD or XD) and only made the Busan 2024 team because Han Ying was injured. Plus Germany gets to enjoy 4th seed positioning on account of Mittelham and gets drawn into the easiest quarter and still has teammates who are capable of finishing the job. Easily the luckiest player in Paris.

Shan Xiaona: Our German Men's team is really strong. I hope they get a silver medal. I don't have a chance to medal in singles anyway, I'm just focused on having a good time. Without Han Ying, our team medal chances are very low as well.

Kaufmann: No Han Ying, No Nina? No problem! I eat pimples for breakfast.

Solja: Well done.

India swapping Kamath and Sreeja shows that they are banking on Kaufmann not knowing how to play long pimples. It'll be harder for Kaufmann to take two points this time, the only way I see them winning is doubles + Shan + Kaufmann.
Kaufmann lost pretty badly in their first-ever encounter at WTT CT Antalya 2023 but up-and-coming players are always dangerous.

JPN can't pray for more than this. No FRA and IND. Through to the final with minimal challenge?

Yeah, I don't think even Annett will be able to win a match.

He has Perfect technique and problems with injuries like German girls
@Tony's Table Tennis what kind of injuries does LYJ have? His wrist is often strapped.
Lin Jun Yu needs one year recovery and it is not about stop training, drink beer... Gain a fat and muscles, start using blue sponge rubbers on Forehand, change blade for blue handle...

Yeah, I don't think Annett will be even able to win a match.
After her performance so far, isn't it funny to say that she has zero chance and that giving her to Japan is to Japan's benefit? If any thing. she is showing PRK levels of unpredictability.

I just don't think she can keep up with the intensity in backhand rallies, but I guess they will put up Hayata against her who is still injured.

Very impressed with 18 yo Kaufmann. She's learning on the job at the moment and learning quickly! Pressure seems not to be an issue and she's constructing some great points. Higher level opposition restrict what you can do of course but for her age she's looking like a star in the making.

I am impressed too
4 out of 4. 100% record, in high pressure, high stake and high quality opponent matches.

You think? I had the impression she fed off the pimple slowed down pace. And that the Japanese girls will just kill her with the 120 rps balls and dozen miliseconds exchanges. But then I'm as amateur in my predictions as I am in my play :)
