Winning against very young LSD didn't mean much. I'll be impressed if he could beat current LSD.
Jorgic's forehand is just too slow and lack of killing power to stay in top 10. Most Asian top class players don't think him as a serious threat.

Oh, it meant a lot. Jorgic got those wins over those players (also Moregard) when he was top 10 between 2022 and 2023 which added weight to his WR. European table tennis was going through a transition period, during which he served as the leading figure of the interim generation (ML actually named him specifically) not unlike Ma Wenge and Wang Tao when CNT was at its weakest in the early 90s before the generation of KLH and LGL. Jorgic is like a wall that other players must scale to prove their worth, a touchstone, so to speak.

He did deserve it and he had to fight for it! A terrific match and finally a 5 setter with some tension in it.
LSD and Felix or Truls to stop him from holding his crown now, gonna be Epic from here!!!

Seems like CXT found a lot of success in the 4th just targeting the wide backhand of Odo compared to the 2nd. Odo tried to go to pivot forehand, CXT's placement was really good. I'd love to see heatmaps of each player's foot placement per game.

A big blow to Odo. She couldn't handle the crucial points like Hirano and Harimoto did at ATTC 2024. CNT has already come up with measures, by giving her relatively soft balls so that she can't play her shots at her ideal impact height.

The reason it was close had to do with the same issue for CXT in the first 3 games, but she got used to Odo's (hidden) serve in late G3 (and ironically, CXT won that game after the TO at 10:9 with her (hidden) kick serve). That service fault at 7:6 of G3 with Odo leading is also a signal that Odo needs to work on her game, as her relying on it will only end up like Ito, who used to hide her serves as well at crucial times and got called in 2018 and 2019.

The umpires on this circuit are a fu**ing disgrace and this needs to be said.

You cannot in good conscience make a call on the toss height unless the violation is blatantly egregious.

I've been an umpire for years (Croatian 1st division), haven't had the guts to make that call once.

Möregårdh does it. He didn’t let Felix play his game until the start of the third. Then he came back again in the fourth set. Excellent first win against Felix

First win for Moregard over F. Lebrun.
First time Moregard got more than 1 game (only got 1 game after first 3 encounters with the last two being 0-3).

The big take away here is that Moregard ditched his creativity that had been holding him back.

EDIT: Just watched the replay, the toss really did look shady. Still no way to be 100% sure.
