Harimoto did play well. Scoreline does not reflect the true nature of the match.

Agreed - a 13 year old backhand oriented player going up against a 20 year old with one of the best backhands in the CNT - not a good matchup and it was more competitive than it could have been.

Kasumi ISHIKAWA now playing WANG Manyu, she got the first set but the Chinese girl is ahead in the 2nd

Ishikawa lost the 2nd and 3rd set rather easily.
in the 4th she was down 7-10 but saved two set points with style, WANG called Timeout, but Ishikawa made a strong 3rd attack that she had missed a few points before...
Ishikawa held several set points, and on the last of them, she was leading the rally and had several opportunities to smash and kill the ball, but she lacks power and the Chinese girl fished all those balls, and got finally a very lucky net, and then won the next 2 points to a stunned Ishikawa which has now a 1-3 deficit. Given her track record against Chinese, it looks like history is gonna repeat once more

another day, another defeat for ISHIKAWA against a Chinese player... 1-4 as usual... she lacks that extra bit of power...

she was agressive and tried her best (risky) combos but too many errors, and after the 1st set the Chinese player could get back those attacks which became a bit too predictable (BH along the line + pivot to FH for example).

MA Long vs YOSHIMURA Maharu next for another China/Japan matchup

UEDA Jin upsets CHUANG Chih-Yuan 4-2. well not really a surprise, UEDA is one of the most under-rated players in Japan. He doesn't go out much, but he won many tournaments in Japan against all the best players, including MIZUTANI (for example top12 this year, he also had a very good fight in the national championships if my memory is correct).

UEDA's serve and receive game is very good. He also won a Challenger ITTF this year. I wonder how he will perform against the Chinese

Fang Bo is performing very poorly against Yoshimura Kazuhiro!

Yoshimura is struggling to close this big match... he's leading only 3-2.
when facing a CNT member, even if you're up 3 sets nil and 5-0, the CNT member is still the favourite...

wow, what a tight match FB vs YK!

Whoever can hold on to their nerve, that would be our winner.... thats FB this time

Yoshimura could not convert one of his 2 match points, he had a clear (but not easy) shot for those 2, but missed the table twice
