Harimoto often shouts 'sai!' before the opponent serves. This might be annoying. Pistej told him to be quiet, but Harimoto didn't understand and shout against 'sai!' (he wasn't loud, we couldn't hear it), so Pistej told him to be quiet again. Harimoto didn't understand and looked at his coach and the umpires. After that Pistej didn't wait for Harimoto to be ready and served immediately, scoring a point. Harimoto looked at umpires if they do something and Pistej served again. This time the umpires called for replaying the point. I think Pistej should get a yellow card for that behaviour.

Everyone knows about Harimoto's shouting, why can't they prepare for that?

Then why so many people saying that we should respect his table tennis and ignore such unsportsmanlike conduct? Pistej is a pro. Very experienced pro. He is bothered by it. Maybe in part because he is losing, but he has lost to many other players without losing it.

people dont know pistej and seem to get too excited with harimoto, pistej is definitely one of the most easily pissed, self absorbed pricks on the game. maybe shibaev level, pistej is featured in all angry TT videos since the existance of TT videos, people just happened to notice him due to his performance in this wttc

p.s. hirano plays so bad so far... I cant believe ding ning will win another champ just because other players miss so much, its pathetic

Perhaps there's a possible reason related to ding ning for her opponents missing so much??? just a wild thought....

It quite annoys me when commentators seem to imply that a successful player is successful primarily due to luck! A lot o that in the ittv stream between fan zhendong and ruwen filus actually.

ding ning is a great player dont get me wrong its just that i dont like that style of play. putting the ball on the table no matter what is a way to win also, but the spectacle is not worth it imho. I always liked creative play and hirano today had the initiative again, ding ning absorbed the attacks (staying a bit far from the table)was very well prepared for hirano's patterns and redirected, hirano so many misses to day

I don't like the way Ding Ning shouts and throws her fist at Hirano's direction. What did she do to her other than beat her? This girl is still only 17 years old

It's all mind games! I mean considering china specifically selects and trains for mental strength, it wouldn't be out of the question for more offensive mind games to be on the agenda!

From an audience perspective for sure creative and competitive play is highly preferred, however from a player perspective I suspect the old adage of "keep it simple stupid" holds true, do what is required to beat the other player!

But yeah games like the zhang jike game yesterday, and the first half of the fan - filus game were much more exciting, but I guess this game was also somewhat expected as china wasn't going to take a 3 fold defeat by a single player in the asian championships sitting down!

I love how everybody complains about Harimoto but nobody says anything about Ding Ning for example. Chos just as much. What a double standard. Lets complain about a 13 year old at the WTTC, because he is doing something that a World Champion does as well.

The problem with Harimoto is that he shouts while the opponent is getting ready to serve/receive. I have seen some koreans do that too but not to that extent

Indeed, ding ning is very well prepared today for miu and holds her ground firmly, the plan is simple, absorb the attacks and redirect whenever she gets a good chance, ding ning is notorious for not making unforced errors

A lot of these younger players need better clutch, perhaps that's why china doesn't field any super young players?

looking forward to the mens singles though! looks like good stuff all the way through the final most likely!
