Harimoto is #1, Mizutani even if he's far from his peak, i believe he's still #3 at least. But who else if not Niwa ?

That is true. I could only think of Yoshimura, but other than doubles he really hasn't much going for him either.

Kazuhiro and Maharu Yoshimura are in the distant 4th and 5th. If Niwa doesn't make the singles, there's a good chance either of those 2 will get picked instead for the team. The issue of having more left-handers than right-handers on the national team - Harimoto, Niwa, Mizutani, Masataka, and Kazuhiro.
