Today on the 4th November Germany's Dimitrij Ovtcharov become the Men's Singles Champion at the GAC GROUP 2012 ITTF World Tour German Open. Two weeks ago Timo Boll was crowned European Champion, however today Dimitrij the German number 2 found form and showed why he is in the top 2 best European table tennis player.

Dimitrij Ovtcharov (no.2 seed) defeated Timo Boll (no.1 seed) after being two games to nil down, to win the next 4 in a row to win in six sets with scores 8-11, 7-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-3, 11-8

After the match Timo Boll expre “Dima served very well today, I couldn't read his game properly and made many easy mistakes”, said Timo Boll. “Anyway it’s good when it’s at least another German who wins this title; I respect Dima’s performance and I feel happy for him.” It seems Dimitrij's unusual serves and style of play is really starting to prove effect on the worlds best table tennis players. This was shown at the recent London 2012 Olympic games where Dimitrij won 2 bronze medals in the singles and team!

“I was not as much on fire as he was today; he was cleverer and more agile than me”, added Timo Boll. “I didn't manage to flip the switch in the final, he was the stronger player today; the past weeks were very stressful and exhausting but I’m satisfied with my second place.”
