I got disappointed from zhnag like performance. He played exceptionally well during the trails but now he wasn't even able to win a set against Ma long. I hope samsonov performs better.

To me it seemed tht Zhj had today a lot of back problems and that he was inside not really fighting because he knew that he cant beat Ma Long in his condition

Exactly - he didn't even try. A friend feels that he could tell ZJK wasn't trying after the first 3 points and that if ZJK was playing Timo Boll or a non-Chinese, he would have played much harder. But I think in any case, it all comes down to the injury.

Although Im a huge ZJK fan if his back is not ready for olympics, then he shouldnt go. I wonder why he attended the german open in the first place if he knew that his back is not in good condition? I speculate it may be for the ranking points since XX or FZD did not attend the open

He wrote that his pain became worse after the previous match. I don't think he can predict his conition after playing, so he probably was a little bit too optimistic.

Regardless of all that, Ma Long seems to be faster and playing better than ever. It is disappointing not to see a good battle between those two. But, it doesn't take away from how well Ma Long is playing right now.

The smile of happiness from a legend of Samsonov's size after winning the third set is a tribute of how strong Ma Long was!

This smile.... :)
