You keep repeating "oh, just make counteragruments" but haven't you paid attention that people like Zeio and Igor don't interact and just keep shitposting? :)
What's the value of that "interaction" and having such a topic on a TT forum?
Oh, I do. I also pay attention to the fact that @zeio and @igorponger have been posting on forums almost as long as I have (possibly much longer) and have their supporters and critics on various issues and making it just about the politics (which again, has not been rebutted using any facts or reports) is simply asking me to say "it is propaganda" based on nothing I can defend if pressed on the issue. I also say that off topic posts are part of many forums. I also pointed out that with a broad laissez faire policy, more than just labelling something propaganda is needed to address it. And zeio definitely interacts.

This stuff used to cause lots of arguments between Tony and zeio. What I have at least done is isolate it to a thread people can ignore. I almost never come here unless I move stuff reported from another thread. And just about nothing has been reported from this thread. I just came here because I was interested in seeing the activity.

Maybe I will bring up a conversation about politics, zeio and igorponger again. Wish me luck!

While it seems fairly well accepted that a lot of the posts here are propaganda, I haven't seen a single rebuttal or counterpoint to the any of the propaganda based on something that everyone can say is objectively true. Not saying this is necessary, but just pointing out that if anyone has criticisms of the propaganda, it isn't grounded in anything that I can actually use to tell it is propaganda. And that is a huge part of the problem for me as a moderator.
Here, I'm not trying to make your life as a moderator difficult, I realise it an absolute minefield to moderate this type of rubbish and that's exactly why it shouldn't even be in here.
I have at least 12 arguments I could make (rhetorical, logical, functional, philosophical, factual, moral etc etc) but to do so would be to engage with this nonsense, which I won't do, because it shouldn't be here.
And engaging with someone who is so (how to put it)... stubbornly Stockholm syndromed would be a waste of time.

Now if the general argument is that "this is politics, it doesn't have a place on the forum".

1) a lot of politics affects table tennis and
2) lots of forums have sections for off-topic interests and conversations
Just because lots of forums do it doesn't mean it's a good idea.
If political debate is generally forbidden in the TT topic threads then why entertain it at all?
The reason is because nobody at the top is even aware of the type of idealogical anti western content is in here because, let's face it, they're not reading it.
I'm not even reading it but you don't have to read it to disagree with its existence in a TT forum.
So a lot of this comes down to moderator policy and in the absence of hard rules on the subject and someone taking the responsibility for the consequences of such rules,
This is the problem created by having it in the first place
we just have to manage as best we can. Now if someone reported the posts for being antagonistic, non-inclusive etc. moderators can look at that. Even as dangerous propaganda with a factually based rebuttal that is also shared on the thread.

Finally, the forum has a broad but not absolute laissez faire policy. It also has a lot of history that tells you broadly what is in bounds. However, no two posters (and even in my experience, no two moderators) are going to see an issue quite the same way. Some people ardently try to get banned members that other posters find humorous.

So I am sure that you might find the band aid solution I came up with stupid. It might be, but it is the best I could do. The negative response to the posts is encouraging, but on subjective issues, I am not the site owner, and given the past, I far less often substitute my judgment for general thrust the broad laissez faire policy, especially in the absence of formal reports of posts.
I know you are working with what you've got and doing what you have to and please believe me, I appreciate all of that.
Nothing I wrote was aimed at you, it was a pot shot at the existence of something that actually annoys me. Every forum the world over has sections like these that are taken over by a few manics pushing nonsense that's unrelated to the mother forum.
People abuse these sections. If they want political debate, or an echo chamber, then they should keep it on such forums designed specifically for that purpose.
And if they just want to spread propaganda they should keep it on their own websites 🤷
There is absolutely no benefit to anyone (except propagandists) to have any of it here.
Anyway, I appreciate the main protagonists TT content in the other sections so I'll leave it at that!

While I can see the value in having an off-topic section for people to discuss other interest or passions that they have, I personally think there should be a forum rule against discussing politics on a table tennis forum.

The reason is that discussions on politics is always divisive, especially since we have so many people from different cultures and backgrounds here. These discussion always become heated and get people worked up, and these high emotions usually spill over into other (table tennis) threads. I think we’ve already seen plenty of evidence of this here.

Table tennis discussions tend to do the exact opposite, in that it brings people together and unite us with a common passion, despite our different cultures and backgrounds.

This might all sound a little corny, but I believe it’s generally true. Having a simple forum rule against any political discussions will make the moderator’s job a lot easier too!

Well, you can see that there's obviously there's [clears throat] the bankruptcy of the general liberal idea. There's the fact that you get a sense that the western idea and the ideas we've had since the Second World War are winding down themselves. At the same time, you can't escape the fact that we appear to be morally as well as financially bankrupt across the West, across Europe and in Britain. That the whole system is in a form of crisis, if you like. What we used to call normal life has been replaced by a permanent state of emergency in terms of our social incohesion, in terms of demographic change in terms of the fact that there appear to be no realistic solutions offered. And whoever you vote for, the same mad policies get continued throughout your life. And that's what I've seen the last 30 years. And if it goes on, we're finished.

(Currently, the international situation is undergoing the most complex and profound changes since the end of World War II. The shadow of war continues to loom, and the dregs of the law of the jungle are resurfacing. The ship of human civilization is sailing into dangerous waters, and the cause of world peace and development stands at a crossroads.

As depicted in this mural in the Security Council chamber, the world has risen from the ashes of World War II, and history has moved forward with twists and turns amidst adversity and obstacles. The challenges we face test the international community's belief in safeguarding peace, its determination to uphold justice, and its courage to reform and innovate. We must unite, act, uphold the United Nations, revitalize the United Nations, and strengthen the United Nations.)

(Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated, "While the United Nations is not perfect, it remains the most authoritative platform for global governance. We must clarify that the purpose of reform is to strengthen, not weaken, the United Nations; we must uphold member state leadership; and we must insist on fair, inclusive, and transparent reform."
...

The meeting also reached five major consensuses, including that all countries, regardless of size or strength, have the right to independently choose their social system and development path; promoting the democratization of international relations; upholding the purposes of the UN Charter and the uniform application of international law; maintaining the UN's core position and practicing multilateralism; improving global governance through reform; narrowing the North-South divide; focusing on practical issues; and creating visible results through concrete actions.)

Thanks @zeio, the existence of people like him brings me a lot of joy and hope.

Now, imagine, some british guy here would post what you just posted, it would be taken by others here as more credible, it would be seen as critique from within, like I'm critizing my own side, not the other side (since we unf. still speak about sides-bs).

Or imagine, you'd bring up a valid criticism of something what is not quite right in China, as I'm sure there is also many such things... People here will be at your feet, LOL... OK, not, but worth trying...

Understood, I am mostly responding to the idea that this is all my design and is inherently dumb. If it was all my design, things would be different lol. The main thing I was trying to do by this action was achieved, the rest may have to wait until some rules get published if ever. Sometimes you take the first step of doing something thinking that you will be able to achieve the rest in a natural progression, then things change and you can't. Just the nature of life.
