I am a GRUMPY OLD NO NONSENSE engineer. My degree says electrical and computer engineer but I joined Rickover's Nuclear Navy. I met Admiral Rickover twice or more accurately, grilled by Admiral Rickover twice. Nuclear Navy training has got to be the best in the world. I was a reactor controls division officer on a fast attack submarine. When I got out I was hired to be a system/project engineer for saw mill projects. It took only a few week for the company to figure out I knew much more than the current head of the software department and was soon head of the software department. Oh, BTW, while in the navy I competed in the first world Othello/Reversi championship at North Western University in 1980. I came in 7th but people were amazed I could do so well without formal training in artificial intelligence. The fact that I did so well made it easy for me to get a job after the navy. The first company I worked for got merged with another bigger and more established company so I had to move and my title was system engineer. I got laid off in 1985. I think it was mostly because I was very critical of management decisions. I was given a chance to show I was right about everything. Fortunately I was asked to work for a small company I currently work for about a week before I got laid off. I held off for about a month before accepting the offer. At that time we were only 4 people. Again I was doing software. I played king maker and deposed the old president and now I am president of a $8M company of a 30 people company that makes industrial control products that are sold around the world. We have distribution around the world. My company is small but we compete favorably with the the biggest companies on earth mostly because the big companies have employees but we have experienced people with tribal knowledge with physics and math abilities that exceed what others can do. Another, BTW, the company that laid me off is now one of my best customers. The fools the laid me off are long gone.

I get involved in many different fields in engineering and have migrated from mostly software to consulting and marketing. I can post links to dozens of engineering articles I have written. Magazine editors seek me out. So do engineering book publishers but there is no profit it writing engineering books and much of the good stuff is trade secret.

My company was involved in the testing of the Phoenix Mars Probe testing, lifting sections of the new bay bridge and many other projects.. I have personally done consulting for the FAA and Sandia's department of energy. Sure, they have PhDs but they call me because I keep my math and physic skills current. Our products get used in testing jet fighter, helicopter and other aircraft parts and the making of aircraft parts. Boeing 737 rivets are inserted using our controllers. The 737 is old technology so I don't expect repeat production business but I do expect more testing business. I/we also train people in the oil and gas industry as well as many other industries.

Most engineers do not keep their skills up to date. They have my contempt. So do many of the people that claim to have PhDs on this and other forums and yet hide when a technical question arises. I give them no slack. In real life I am usually asked to clean up their messes. I go easy on those that don't claim to be engineers since they will not be doing engineering work that fails.

This is an example of the crap that I have had to take from other TT forum moderators.

"Irepeat, keep this attitude up and you will be banned. I don't have totell you what actions we take against other users. If we single youout, that's because you are the worst offender out of the group, noother reason.

[FONT=Verdana, serif]Alsoyou can't cop out of examples of math that you don't understand.Newton was proven wrong, and now it seems Einstein was proven wrongabout gravity. One of my oldest friends has a PHD in theoreticalphysics from Dartmouth, but I'm sure he has better things to do withhis research for the airforce than to post stuff on sports forums. "

This forum moderator idiot had no clue as to who I am, what I can do, and what my math and physics skills are. I am sure they are beyond his imagination. What does his oldest friend have to do with anything? I bet the moderator never relayed what I wrote to his PhD friend to verify what I wrote. Newton and Einstein were not wrong until one gets into quantum mechanics. What and idiot this moderator is. TT deals with simple physics not quantum or interstellar physics.

hi, i m ayan and i am student of MBA specializing in HRM, having experience in home textiles.

I studied civil engineering, Bachelor in science, engineering faculty.

I hated this study and more the job i worked in for almost 9years, i worked in my city local governmental department as a civil engineer inspector for constructed/under constructions sites, very headache job, dealing with consultants and contractors and even some owners, i was in hell for almost 6 years before i changed the section but again dealt with engineering stuff, i let this job last year and i hope i leave it forever and going back to it.

While i was working, i developed and improved my photography skills, i started late 2005 and never stopped or looked back, but this year i stopped due to my situations and replaced it with table tennis, once my situations getting solved i will go back to photography and maybe i stop table tennis again, but that is why i bought plenty of rackets so i don't stop it at all.

Hehe, when it comes to profession, Im a musician, a music teacher, a rock climbing guide, a wilderness guide trainer, and a residential window and door service specialist. I guess I like variety ;)
Here's a rhyme I just came up with to describe my life:
"I may a jack of all trades and a master of none, but I've seen a lot of things and I've had a lot of fun."

Now that I am retired military, it USED to be scaring adults for a living, but now, since I am retired and getting old, I figure I should take it a little easier and begin to scare only children for a living. What do you think?

Actually, I just got told i will be working in Financial Management just west of DC, depending on where I get a place to live, I should be reasonable distance from a new 11 table TT club (Smash TTC in VA)

It is clear to me there are more educated people on this forum than on others or at least the ration of educated to uneducated is higher.

I have a few practice partners.
One is a retired engineer. He worked for the Bonneville Power Association. He was the best of us but after taking lessons things have changed.
One is a trainer. He trains/coaches people on to pass their stock broker's exams. He gets paid by big banks and brokerage firms to train their employees. He works from home. He paid cash for a $750K house and drives a Tesla S or Honda sports cars. Note, most financial advisers know little and you should NEVER trust your money to someone else without a proven track record. Few are worth your trust. I know this because my practice partner gets interrupted from student calls asking stupid questions. I have a solution. Make prospective stock brokers learn with their own money. That will separate the good ones from the bad ones quickly.
One is a retired professor in computer science. He is a @#$% liberal but we both need the exercise.
One is an old Chinese c-pen player that works for me in marketing. He recently learned how to use rpb at 64 yo and is pretty good at it. We play TT when we are on trips in China etc.

Combine the 2.TT photographer is good. But Digital makes things a bit too easy. Try video work. It would be nice to see someone do some good TT documentaries/stories or record matches with a bit of flair. Or even set up some good live streaming. I'd love to see some of our posters in their league matches.
