What about german stars? Timo and Dima?

Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using Tapatalk

boll will face ma long and I dont see any future there, the chinese just know him too well

dima if wins against szocs hunor he will face koki niwa and anything can happen. Dima is also well studied I dont see also any future for him if he sticks to his current play. He still lacks mentality in tough situations and doesnt vary his shots, changing tempo/placement or combined was always a problem for FZD and if dima manages it he will definitely pose a threat but I just dont see it happening

My prediction for the final 8

ma long
timo boll
harimoto tomokazu
LGY

lee sang su

jeong sangeun

niwa koki

FZD

To be fair, Dima usually builds his game on his strong, explosive and reliable backhand to dictate the game. Szocs' backhand is on fire right now, heaps of confidence; Dima can't dominate in that regard and thus can't get into his game too much. If I understood correctly, Rosskopf already told Dima to try to bring more quality into his serves to try to dictate the game right off the first ball, but thus far it hasn't been working too well, since Szocs reads them nicely

indeed but my impressions is that he gets "obsessed" with that game plan 9/10 times, outpowering and killing everything has cost him many unforced errors ( always in predictable diagonal attacks) throughout his career, he almost lost a dominating game against boll in CL because of that, variation is always the key, je also mentioned it in his interview but doing it in action is a whole different situation

Couldn't agree more. This time around, this set, he varied his placements wisely, often placing the first long ball into Szocs' forehand so that he can't immediately go berserk on Dima. Suddenly it almost seemed easy! This should give Dima enough momentum to pull through, I'm guessing... let's see...

yeap it was amazing and it seemed easy, because hunor tilted instantly after the change of game plan from dima. Its easy for us to criticize but Im happy he pulled it of in the end. Im sure he is going to win now

that slow BH spinny topspin @ 4-1 was pure art from dima, that is what im talking about, he needs to think about variation all the time. maybe write it down 2500 times per day in a paper and listen to tapes at night like smokers do !
