Surprises...

I boost gently, and it evaporates after 4-6 weeks, and then I re-boost. The rubber gets bigger, needs "re-cut". If after further 4-6 weeks I don't throw away, but re-boost again, the rubber feels "thin" as @Zwill writes, somewhat lower throw too.

But I guess the most important is that I feel the booster is out, and I'm surprised someone can play with it longer without being frustrated ;-)

Sigh.... that's cuz you didn't boost it properly. So here's the thing, if you boost your rubber properly and you start hitting with it. If you take your rubber off, even without reboosting, the rubber will "enlarge" because you "打开" that h3, if you glue it back you can cut off part of the rubber etc.... By taking the rubber off you released all the tension and allow the rubber to expand which is NOT what you want.

Therefore, if you boost and glue the h3 rubber. The tension will ALWAYS be there until it bubbles. so if you boosted and glued your h3 properly the rubber STAYS there.....


I just simplify for everyone in my post but i've EJ'd alot. I know what i'm talking about. Sealing blades, boosting with different crap etc...

This thread is an interesting way to announce breaking 2200 without announcing breaking 2200. At least Scrubplayer won't go around saying he is really 2400 because he is underrated and plays in LA since he came to the East Coast and didn't see the miraculous jump in rating he expected. Much better than his historical douchiness.

you can clearly see the who's pong level is high and who's pong level is low in this thread. I have a feeling you are not a bad player since you do agree with me. For people who don't agree with me i doubt they are over 1800 max.

I think there is more of an expansion issue with H3 rather than shrinking. If you take off and reboost it will become bigger than before so aligning is not a huge issue.
I think the bigger issue is something I never seen anyone talk about: as the rubber gets bigger because of the booster it gets thinner at the same time. And I think that just about sums up the issue with too much boosting.

The reboost settling time is longer.
You could always pair the rubber onto the blade and match. Or at least that is what I do. Reboost is also just 1 layer.

I have seen some that like to boost heavily and have it expanded to the max, so the thinner part is all individual preferences.

I think it all aligns with your budget too and your intentions. I used to change H3 less than monthly.
Cnt changes weekly.
For pros I know, money isn’t a problem but getting consistent supply for say changing weekly is challenging.
The team has over 20 players using H3, so that is between 40 sheets a months to 80 (if weekly), par time is about 2 weeks, stretching 3 and 40 sheets monthly per blade… or 100 sheets per month is a bit hard to get some times.

Now I would change maybe every 3 months with 1 or 2 reboost.
Anything longer 2 or 3 months the glue will dry out and be so hard that they won’t feeing. You are forced to reglue and this isnt about booster issue.

Prott seems to sell "national team version" of D05, T05 and MX-P. So maybe pro's do get better rubbers. I would not know for sure.

Looking at Timo Boll's gluing video on YouTube, it looks like Timo cares more about the weight of the rubbers and would glue 10 sets at a time and use the right one (weight wise) depending on how big (or small) the training hall is and the tournament hall is. Not sure if Timo gets the special "national team" edition from Butterfly or not.

I do prefer new rubber, but H3 is extremely durable and I usually get 60-70 hours per sheet with one re-boost. It would be a waste to scrap it halfway through. The first re-boost brings it back to life, though not as good as the first week or two. I've tried re-boosting a second time but that doesn't work so well for me, and the top sheet is on its way out by that point anyway.

I think 1800 will be your ceiling. You gotta change to black ASAP, without any delay.

Timo has publicly say he gets the same rubber or commericial packaging rubber from Butterfly
many other players I know get non commericial packaging.

I have few friends that have tried Timo's bat before and the quality if way better than their own "Butterfly sponsored rubbers".
So, I stand by "maybe"
so the god of equipment in this thread has said pros use the same as us layman or something like that.

I know people who change K3 on a daily basis, some 3 to 7 day basis.
I wonder how we going to classify their level based on their rubber changing preferences.
