Keeping this post in a time capsule for LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032.
I've said before this is a very unexpected amazing win/result for the young player. World No 200 ish beats world no 1 then plays amazing against wold no 3 LSD. A set of matches to be proud of 1000%. That's how to arrive in the men's game with a bang!.
Now in the "real world" if I said to you before the event down the pub or TT club...
Put £/$1000 or a pint and a packet of crisps... or beer and chicken..on which one. Who would you have picked?... Honestly
My money would have gone on WCQ as he's the world No 1. Top tier CNT player. You just expect him to win.
Who would have seriously put the money on the young player ranked outside the top 200 unless it was a bit of a punt.
This isn't taking anything away from the talent at all. It's just a the way the result should have gone.
Time will tell if it's a fluke or better way to put it very unexpected outcome of resutls.
Wouldn't it be one of those proper amazing stories if this was another young prodigy to pop up and really rough things up at the top of the men's game long term...

Ok so you say an illegal treatment on a rubber gives you an edge... why do you think it's illegal then ? I mean... I'm european, we can still find old fashioned rubbers and speed glue here, the "clean" version less stinky but still... I could glue my rubbers 15 minutes before going in a 1800 tournament (your 2200), put the AC inthe car for 10 mintes more and play 3 hours straight, then go back to my car at noon, re-glue, and can play all day long like that. Do you think there are VOC control boxes in those low rated tournaments ? absolutely not !

Maybe you're using confirmation biases: you don't show us the same attempt at slow low counter top spin with your D09C for example, sure it requires a learning curve, but it opens new doors, new ways of thinking the techniques. Try it, plus: it's legal.

So why are you telling Gozo ESN/BTY can't do the specific counter you showed us ? perfect counter, no question, but using... an illegal treatment.

Seems like it's more about the importance of tacky rubbers. Weak tack like 09c and recent sheets of H3 aren't viable to counter strong topspins. This may be the reason top players are gravitating towards tacky rubbers

in the first video, you hit thinly when demonstrating the provincial and then you hit into the ball when demonstrating the national

I also have the impression that you want to make the provincials look bad. I'm 100% sure, in a double blind test you would not be able to tell the difference, with this type of (non representative) testing.
Eh, I do agree with him on this one about the H3 part that the consistancy of national is better than provincial.
However, the click sound normally comes up when you are lightly brushing heavy spin ball with a flat or open racket. In game this rally happens on counter loop because you need to drive and guide the ball instead of just brushing up.
The click only happened to me when the opponent serves heavy underspin and i have to let it fall on my flat racket. But in this case the clicking ball confuses the opponent more, because an empty ball comes back.
The video about ESN is tricky, because the opponent really put light spin on it. ESN might be able to pull it off as well.

I'm not sure if it being provincial is the reason, since I have older commercial H3 and that doesn't do this.
On this particular H3N prov BS I don't even need to make a very thin contact, the ball is just ice skating on the rubber.
But the rubber can lift the ball so it's still sticky.
When it was newer it didn't do this, so I suppose I wore it out in 6-7 weeks
