It is to my conclusion gold vis is a mircale pay 2 win blade after an interesting consistent observation between me and my friends.
Me: Switched from zhou qihao 90 gold vis April and my rating was going up ever since
Friend 1: Been 218x~219x for 10 years, switched to gold vis and went to 2300. No additional training or lesson taken what so ever.
Friend 2: Look at his rating history, want to take a guess when he switch to gold vis? Yep late 2022 jump from 225x ~ 2300 for almost 5 years to 2400.
Friend 3: Again, want to take a guess when he start using gold vis? Yep early 2024 went from 22xx to 23xx
The above are all adult player where we have jobs, family, and no time of the day to train like kids. Even if we were to play 2~3 times a week it would just be maintaining our level. So what's so special about gold vis compare to normal vis and other blades? (We are quite the EJ, we are adult with $$$ afterall we love trying different stuff)
Well, compare to all other blades i've tried, Gold vis is a blade that have the most margin of error while producing high quality shot. It's very forgiving, normally when a blade is forgiving, it trades shot quality for margin of error but for some reason gold vis is an exception. Most gold vis are 95g which theoretically it's quite heavy but the balance of the blade is superb and it doesn't feel heavy at all despite the total weight are consistently 195g+ . My friend's blade are in that range while the heaviest is at 198g. We as an adult player cannot consistently play close to the table like kids, we do find ourselves away from the table a lot of the time in a match. Gold vis is able to put shot down the deeper end of the table despite us getting far off the table.
Comparison to other blades:
1. Compare to normal vis, gold vis have signifant power away from the table. While normal vis weight between 82~88g, gold vis are 95g and it felt harder.
2. Gold vis power is comparable to w968-(1~3) and surpass the power from normal w968(1x~2x) while being much more forgiving.
3. Gold vis dimension is 157x150mm which make it a more backhand orientated blade which is what the current meta is about. Despite that, the forehand do not lack power
So at the end of the day, Gold vis put the ball back on the table more often and make your opponent miss more due to high shot quality. This equates to better match results. We adults can't train everyday likes kids but we can leverage our finance and this is what we do. aka p2w
